The Estimator analyzes proposed scopes of work and schedules to estimate the final budget in support of existing and new business opportunities. The Estimator will be responsible for estimating the cost of labour and expenditures for projects, auditing actual cost of labour and expenses for projects, and developing costing standards and procedures that can be applied to projects. The Estimator will also request input from key stakeholders and subject matter experts to adjust estimates and standards when required.
This is a hybrid position. Duties And ResponsibilitiesDetermine the level of effort and hours required for Canacre projects. Prepare estimates for all stage gates of work outlined within a scope of work and schedule, with minimal oversight. Prepare proposal specifications and assumptions associated with level of effort, with minimal oversight. Collaborate cross-departmentally on project scope, schedule, and cost analysis, with minimal oversight. Analyze client designs, plans, specifications, milestones, and addendums in preparation of project budgets and schedules, with minimal oversight. Assist in preparing and distributing requests for information to Canacre personnel, clients and subcontractors as required, with minimal oversight.
Prepare project workplans and schedules. Assist the Proposal Team to create proposals based on proposed workplans. Provide input to project team regarding cost and expenditure statements and forecasts at regular intervals for the duration of a project. Provides guidance for invoicing rules in relation to scope of work upon project award with oversight. Provide input to project team to effectively manage risks that might impact scope, schedule, and cost estimates. Work within audit frameworks for analysis of actuals to inform future work with oversight.
Work with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates, with minimal oversight. Provide recommendation for cost control measures and improvements. Travel QualificationsPerform other duties as required. EducationPost-Secondary degree in Business, Science, Engineering, or related programExperienceMinimum 3-year relevant professional experience. Experience in providing estimates for large infrastructure projects is considered an asset. Experience in consulting is considered an asset. Experience with Salesforce or other CRM is considered an asset. Experience with MS Project is considered an asset. Experience with ArcGIS is considered an asset. Experience with Google Earth (KML/KMZ) is considered an asset.
