It blends the comfort of luxury vacations with the spirit of adventure travel. Complete with a professional crew, guests can enjoy the nautical skills and local knowledge of a captain alongside gourmet meals prepared by a chef. On the larger yachts they also enjoy a high level of service and hospitality from a steward/ess.At times management may assign additional tasks relating to the position which may include day sails, photo shoots, briefings, boat shows etc. When the yacht is not on charter the position involves base work and duties.Please note one double cabin/berth will be provided as accommodation for the captain and the chef to share.What the Captain will be doing:Ensure the safety of all clients throughout the charterBe responsible for the safe piloting, navigation, anchoring and operation of the yacht at all timesMaintain all technical and general aspects of the yacht including equipment and the dinghy to The Moorings standard, including regular maintenance checks and services as directed by the technical managerKeep an updated log book recording hours, passages and mileage and report to the technical managerKeep accounting records in good order, and ensure that expenditure is kept within the charter budgetCommunicate with clients in advance of charters using the company provided email addressGreet clients and assist with boarding, followed by a welcome brief covering safety and relevant yacht information, including the whereabouts of all safety equipmentAct as a host for the charter party, organising activities and excursions as required, and providing local information throughout the charterProvide basic instruction for snorkelling, kayaking and stand up paddle boardingRun safe watersports activities from the tender including kneeboarding, tubing, and waterskiingCreate and serve a selection of cocktails to clients throughout charterClean the yacht in preparation for charter and during the charterReport any incidents during charter to the manager, initially verbally and followed by a written reportAny other duties as directed by the managerWhat the Chef will be doing:Be responsible for menu planning and provisioning of the yacht for charter. Ensure that the menu is in accordance with the guest’s preference sheets and that meals are well prepared and tastefully presentedDaily housekeeping of all guest areas of the yacht to The Moorings’ standardCommunicate with clients in advance of charters using the company provided email addressKeep accounting records in good order, and ensure that expenditure is kept within the charter budgetEnsure snacks are available at all times for guests to help themselvesKeep the galley and equipment clean and organised at all times and clean up following each mealPreparation of the cabins with linen prior to guest arrival, and completion of a mid-week linen change during charterClean the yacht in preparation for charter and during the charterAct as a host for the charter party, organising activities and excursions as required, and providing local information throughout the charterHelp ensure the safety of guests throughout the charterAssist the captain in providing basic instruction/assistance with snorkelling and other water sportsAssist the captain with all elements of deck work as requiredAny other duties as directed by the managerWhat we are looking for in a captain: Yacht Master Offshore commercially endorsed or BVI BoatmastersRelevant Medical (must be in date for the full contract)Previous experience in a similar positionStrong technical experience on similar sized yachts and systemsExperience running watersports from a tenderAbility to communicate with customers at all levelsExperience working to budgetsExperience in a leadership positionPrevious cocktail making experienceSTCWLanguage Skills (desirable)What we are looking for in a chef: STCWFood and Hygine qualificationPrevious experience in a similar positionExperience in a culinary position within a commercial environmentExperience working to dietary requirements and particular preferencesPrevious waiting and housekeeping experienceAbility to communicate with customers at all levelsExperience working to budgetsCompetent Crew/Day Skipper or equivalent level of experience, and Powerboat Level 2 (desirable)Language Skills (desirable)
