CAREER OPPORTUNITY - ACCOUNTING OFFICER IOur client, an established international reinsurance company, is seeking to recruit an Accounting Officer I to join their Finance team in Barbados. The Accounting Officer I will assume an integral role in the overall production of monthly Financial Statements for the company and the production of other financial reports for both internal and external audits. The RoleThe Accounting Officer I will provide support to the Finance Manager and will be held accountable for the following:
Ensuring that all journal entries/accounts have been prepared in an accurate and timely manner in the production of monthly Financial Statements. Monitoring and maintaining cash books for all bank accounts of the company. Monitoring/Performing petty cash count. Preparing and maintaining loan schedules. Identifying, escalating, and providing recommendations to address any month end financial reporting issues, ensuring proper resolution on a timely basis. Managing the company's investment process for entry into the General Ledger. Provide flux analysis on balance sheet line items with material variances. Providing analysis of Operating Expenses, Actual vs Plan.
Preparing monthly reconciliations of the general ledger accounts as assigned. The completion and timely submission of accurate internal/external reporting. Providing audit support to internal and external auditors as needed for their annual reviews. Ensuring compliance with internal audit requirements. Liaising with the team and various business partners, answering queries and performing ad hoc reporting to Management as required. Identifying and implementing process improvements to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Assisting in the implementation of new accounting standards and regulatory reporting requirements which includes testing and analysis of changes to source systems as it applies to TDRB functions.
The CandidateThe ideal candidate should: Possess an undergraduate degree in a finance or business-related field, be enrolled in a professional accounting program, preferably Level 1 or 2, and have a minimum of two (2) years’ financial accounting experience. Possess multi-tasking skills and the ability to work in a dynamic and fast changing environment delivering accurate results on a timely basis. Demonstrate organizational awareness and the ability to manage strong relationships within and across multiple business groups. Have excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills. Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Tools, preferably at the Intermediate Level (Excel, Word, etc.
