Chief Financial Officer (CFO) / Head of Finance Utility-Scale Renewable Energy | Johannesburg or Cape Town (Hybrid)Are you a strategic financial leader with the ambition to shape a high-growth renewable energy platform in Southern Africa?Our client, a dynamic and fast-scaling renewable energy developer and energy trader, is seeking an exceptional Chief Financial Officer/Head of Finance to join the executive leadership team and drive financial excellence, capital strategy, and long-term growth.With an objective to deliver an excess of 3GW of new renewable energy by 2030, this business is at the forefront of developing, financing, and operating large-scale renewable projects that empower private offtakers and major industrial users across the region.About the RoleAs CFO/Head of Finance, you will lead the full financial agenda of the organisation. You will develop a high-performing finance function, steer capital decision-making, manage group financial performance, and ensure robust governance aligned to shareholder and regulatory standards.You will play a decisive role in capital structure planning, commercial investment decisions, and the execution of complex project finance transactions that underpin the company’s rapid expansion.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as a strategic business partner to the CEO and Executive CommitteeLead financial strategy, capital planning, and performance management across the groupManage project finance transactions and institutional funding relationshipsOversee budgeting, forecasting, and reporting across multiple entities and project SPVsEnsure compliance with IFRS, tax legislation, and relevant regulatory frameworksBuild, mentor, and grow a high-calibre finance teamStrengthen internal controls, risk frameworks, and governanceSupport M&A and energy trading opportunities as the business scalesQualifications and ExperienceRegistered Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) or equivalent qualificationPostgraduate degree (MBA or similar) preferredProven experience in capital-intensive industries (renewable energy, mining, or infrastructure)Strong expertise in Project Finance, with relationships in Southern African banking and investment circlesTrack record in corporate finance, financial reporting (IFRS), and strategic leadershipExperience leading and developing multidisciplinary finance teamsExceptional stakeholder management skills and commercial acumenStrong ERP and financial systems experienceExcellent written and verbal communication skills in English (French or a South African language an advantage)Personal AttributesStrategic and analytical thinker with strong business insightCollaborative leader who builds trust across shareholders, boards, and teamsPurpose-driven, with a commitment to sustainability and transformationResilient and adaptable in a dynamic, high-growth environment
