This is an opportunity to work on exciting and creative projects while mentoring a talented and dedicated team of professionals.About Our OpportunityEASTPOINT is seeking an Intermediate Civil Engineer for our Halifax office. Reporting to a Team Lead in the Civil Group, you will be an integral part of our engineering team, developing and implementing technical solutions in both the office and field. You will participate in all project phases, from proposal preparation, feasibility assessment and detailed design, through to tendering, construction and commissioning. Candidates must have strong verbal and written communication skills, highly organized, be detail orientated, a self-starter and be proficient in research, document review, organization, and time/budget management. The successful applicant must be able to work interchangeably in a team setting, and independently, and will be expected to liaise with professionals including technicians, engineers, sub-consultants, contractors and clients.Skills / Training RequirementsThis opportunity might be the right fit if you enjoy an open and collaborative office environment with a team that likes to have fun together, in and out of the office. Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited Canadian university.5-9 (intermediate) years’ applicable experience in the consulting sector.Registered P.Eng. with a Canadian association.Proficiency in Civil 3D including surface development, grading, alignments, profiles, 3D pipes, and corridor modelling.Strong experience in the design and construction of civil infrastructure including earthworks, site layout, grading/drainage, stormwater management, municipal roads, sidewalks, parking lots, subdivisions, watermains, sanitary sewers, storm sewers and culverts.Strong experience in quantity estimates/cost estimating and preparation of specifications and construction documentation.Experience in the use of hydraulic modelling software is considered a strong asset. Experience in the application of municipal design standards and codes throughout Canada.Experience in the preparation of fee estimates and proposals is considered an asset. Superior writing skills in the development of technical reports is required.Bilingual in English and French is preferred.Other RequirementsThis role requires short term (1-5 days) travel assignments throughout Canada.Candidates must be able to obtain a minimum of Reliability status through CISD within six (6) months. This is a requirement for employment.
