This placement will provide you with the opportunity to learn from industry-leading project teams, working in a collaborative “one-team” culture while developing and broadening your technical and professional skills.You will demonstrate a willingness to learn and contribute as part of an experienced delivery team. Under the guidance of senior staff, you will support day-to-day project activities, gain exposure to engineering design and on-site operations, and develop an understanding of how projects are priced, planned, and delivered.Due to the diverse nature of our work, you will have the chance to observe and engage with a wide range of civil engineering activities, giving you valuable insight into both the technical and practical aspects of the industry. This placement is designed to support your professional growth, preparing you to return to university with enhanced knowledge and experience to progress in your future career.Successful interns may also be considered for a place on the Glanua Graduate Programme upon completion of their degree, offering a clear pathway to continue their career development within the organisation.Main Duties and Responsibilities:The main duties and responsibilities of the Civil Junior Engineer are outlined as follows:Work as part of a project team, contributing to the delivery of ongoing projects and embracing a collaborative “one team” culture.Support the promotion of Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies, and procedures on-site.Develop foundational skills in setting out under supervision.Gain practical experience in the use of laser levels and dumpy levels.Build familiarity with BIM/Revit and develop basic drafting skills.Learn to interpret rebar details and drawings with guidance from senior engineers.Learn and practice basic concrete quality control tests, such as measuring slump (workability), taking cube samples, curing them properly, and recording the results.Get familiar with water and wastewater treatment processes, including exposure to modular package treatment plant fabrication.Engage in continuous learning and development, keeping up to date with emerging industry standards and technologies through guidance and mentoring.Support site teams with health and safety activities, such as inductions, statutory inspections, record keeping, and data collection.Demonstrate eagerness to learn, develop professional skills, and progress toward future career goals. Our organisation has a strong record of supporting career growth from internship to senior leadership roles.Undertake other tasks and learning opportunities as required to support project and team needs.Knowledge, Skills and Experience:The main knowledge, skills and experience required of the Civil Engineer Intern are outlined as follows:Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Construction Management (or related) degree programme.Must be returning to college/university after completion of the placement (this is a structured placement opportunity, not a graduate role).Strong academic foundation with an interest in developing practical, on-site engineering skills.Enthusiasm for learning and applying engineering concepts in real-world projects.Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a professional environment.Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); exposure to AutoCAD or similar software is an advantage but not essential.Willingness to work on-site and adapt to a dynamic project environment.Commitment to maintaining high standards of Health, Safety, Environment, and Sustainability.SalaryN/A
