Interested in climbing aboard with the Syfan Team?CARGO & TRAILER CLAIMS ASSISTANT (ENTRY-LEVEL)Department: ClaimsReports To: Claims ManagerPosition SummaryThe Cargo & Trailer Claims Assistant supports the Claims Department in handling cargo loss, cargo damage, and trailer damage claims. This entry-level role focuses on documentation, file organization, deadline tracking, and professional communication with carriers and internal teams.This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and interested in learning the transportation and logistics industry.Primary ResponsibilitiesClaim File Setup & DocumentationOpen new cargo and trailer claim files in the claims systemCollect and organize required documentation (Bills of Lading, delivery receipts, photos, repair estimates, invoices, etc.)Request missing paperwork from carriers and internal departmentsMaintain clear and accurate electronic file notesTracking & Follow-UpMonitor claim deadlines and follow up as directedMaintain tracking spreadsheets for open claims and freight holdsProvide regular status updates to the Claims ManagerCommunication SupportCommunicate professionally with carriers, customers, and internal departmentsAssist with scheduling inspections and coordinating repair estimatesRespond to claim-related email and phone inquiriesAdministrative SupportAssist with freight holds related to open claimsHelp prepare basic claim summaries and reportsMaintain organized electronic and digital recordsPerform additional administrative duties as assignedQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required0–2 years of office, administrative, or customer service experience preferredStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsProficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)Strong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environmentKEY ATTRIBUTESOrganized and dependableWillingness to learnProfessional and respectful communicatorTeam-oriented with ability to work independentlyProcess-focused and detail-drivenGROWTH OPPORTUNITYThis role provides foundational experience in cargo and trailer claims handling and offers advancement opportunities into positions such as:Claims CoordinatorClaims AnalystCargo Claims AdjusterClaims ManagerTraining will be provided on industry terminology, documentation standards, and claims processes.Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with DisabilitiesThe contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
