A relief pool of candidates will be created from which qualified individuals will be called upon to work on a temporary basis for short periods of vacation, sick leave, or any other type of leave depending upon the requirements of various department.AccountabilitiesProvides clerical and administrative support within City divisions. Duties may vary based upon position assignment.The successful applicant will be required to participate in all training programs applicable to this position and other related work. The above statements reflect the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job identified and shall not be considered a detailed description of all work requirements that may be inherent in the job.QualificationsCandidates must possess a high school diploma supplemented by successful completion of a recognized business administration, office administration, records management, accounting, or secretarial program; proficiency in Mircosoft Office, proficiency in typing and filing. Ability to exercise good judgment, problem solve, and display courtesy and tact in dealing with the public. Candidates must have the skill to quickly learn the operation of the required equipment; carry out verbal and written instructions accurately and quickly; and establish good communications with City Departments.Successful candidates must attain a minimum of 45 wpm and must successfully demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel on simulation tests administered by the City of St. John’s prior to hiring.Please upload a copy of your post-secondary diploma to your online profile when applying.Hours of WorkHour of work vary based on assignment.
