The Vascular surgery unit at the Royal Free Hospital is a popular unit among trainees with ampleopportunities to train with a good mix of enthusiastic consultants performing both open andendovascular procedures. The department boasts of a friendly atmosphere to learn as you work.The unit provides specialist service for patients with peripheral arterial disease, Aortic and otherperipheral aneurysms, venous disease including varicose veins and complex venous thromboticdisorders, diabetic foot care, Visceral arterial disease, carotid arterial disease,We are looking for a registrar in vascular surgery who will undertake research (higher degree) withsome clinical duties. This post will be approximately 60% research and 40% clinical in thedepartment of vascular surgery. The clinical activities will include managing virtual ward patients,attending elective and vascular hot clinics as well as some element of rota management. He / Shewill support the research activities/ongoing studies of the vascular department. The averageworking hours will be 40 hours a week. There is no expectation of out of hours on call. The post isfor 12 months.The post holder will participate in the virtual ward activities and ensure virtual ward patients are reviewed regularly. They will also undertake surgical clinics and participate in the provision of care for acute/elective cases. The post holder will be expected to maintain the highest clinical standards in the practice of surgery, and will undertake any reasonable clinical responsibility which relates to surgery.The post holder will be expected to be actively involved in the management of the department including attendance at MDTs, and will be expected to take an active and engaged role in departmental and academic responsibilities as allocated by agreement across the department, including cover for colleagues’ annual leave and other authorised absences as appropriate.The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s biggest and most innovative trusts.
