Types of new nurses include nursing graduates, internationally educated nurses (IENs) and nurses looking to upskill. Clinical Scholars are required to focus exclusively on mentoring newly graduated nurses in their transition into the nursing workforce without a patient caseload.This position also supports the program beneficiaries nursing practice and integration into the clinical area in accordance with organizational and professional standards, and in collaboration with clinical teams.Qualifications And ExperienceRegistered Nurse (RN) registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) in the General Class; Experience in frontline care in a hospital clinical setting and competencies to provide training and mentorship to newly graduated nurses, confirmed by the participating organization’s Professional Practice team;Minimum of 5 years’ experience recent related experience include three (3) years relevant clinical experience;Current BCLS, ACLS required;Demonstrated experience with Health Information Systems an asset; previous Meditech implementation experience preferred;Previous Clinical Nurse Educator or Professional Practice experience an asset; andDemonstrated ability to manage change and to foster an environment which promotes professional practice. Skills And AbilitiesFacilitates decision-making and critical thinking, along with responding to clinical questions.
