Backed by dentsu's legacy of innovation and creativity originating in Japan, we’ve spent over 35 years helping brands build loyalty, drive growth, and connect meaningfully with their audiences.We’ve been named a global “Leader” by top industry analyst firms in categories as wide-ranging as digital transformation and commerce, experience design, engineering and technology integration, digital marketing, data science, CRM and loyalty, and customer data management.We are looking for someone able to:Maintain and enhance our existing software applications using Java and related technologies (including OnCalls duties)Provide support for the applications, performing day-to-day support tasks and assisting other teamsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and propose solutions for optimization and improvementConduct code reviews and provide recommendations for code refactoring and performance enhancementsTroubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring timely resolutionsDesign and develop scalable and efficient REST web servicesCollaborate with the team to implement and integrate OpenAPI specifications and Swagger documentationImplement and optimize SQL queries for efficient data retrieval and manipulationLeverage ElasticSearch to offload the application and enhance the search performanceWork with monitoring tools such as NewRelic, Grafana, or Kibana to enhance system performanceExplore and evaluate new technologies and frameworks to improve system architecture and development processesMentor and provide guidance to junior developers, fostering their growth and developmentEnsure compliance with coding standards, best practices, and security guidelinesStay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements, sharing knowledge with the teamQualifications:Proven experience as a Java Developer or similar role2+ years experience in Java development and popular frameworksSolid understanding of web services (REST) and experience developing APIsExperience with containerization using Docker or PodmanProficient in version control systems like GITStrong knowledge of SQL and experience with database optimizationFamiliarity with front-end technologies like TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, XML, and JSONKnowledge with optimization and monitoring tools like ElasticSearch, NewRelic, Grafana, and Kibana is a plusKnowledge of Maven and Gradle, Scala is a plusExcellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsOf curious nature and open-mindedAbility to provide outstanding customer service, be a good listener, work well with others, and trusted by colleaguesStrong communication and collaboration skills to work efficiently within a team and across departmentsDegree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experienceFluent in EnglishWhy choose Merkle?Innovation at Our Core: As part of dentsu’s global network, Merkle pushes the boundaries of customer experience, integrating creativity, technology, and data to drive real-world impact.
