Job Description

We are looking for a CNC Machinist and Programmer to read and interpret design blueprints, program, set up, and operate CNC and lathe machines, and adjust settings to meet precise specifications while ensuring top-quality production standards.ResponsibilitiesPrepare geometric layouts and designs using MasterCam by reviewing 3D CAD blueprints.Input product designs into computer modeling software and perform programming calculations, including material cutting paths.Write, test, and modify CNC programs; determine the sequence of operations and analyze job orders to optimize machining efficiency.Select and source appropriate cutting tools and tooling for standard and special applications.Run simulations or tests to validate programs and monitor live runs to ensure accuracy and safety.Analyze and select appropriate cutting speeds and feeds based on materials and design specifications.Improve setup times and optimize contouring of complex shapes to reduce production time and tooling costs.Train new staff on machine operation procedures and best practices.Ensure all programs conform to blueprint instructions and are executed safely and efficiently.Conduct in-process and final inspections using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).Monitor manufacturing processes and finished products to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and ISO 9001:2015 standards.Maintain quality records and inspection documentation according to ISO requirements and company procedures.Identify and report non-conformities; assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions.Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.Understand and forecast production requirements to meet machine output targets.Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and reporting breakdowns promptly.Focus on achieving high-quality standards, minimizing downtime, reducing tooling costs, and completing jobs efficiently.Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.QualificationsGrade 12 certificate.Trade certificate, diploma, or relevant technical education in machining or manufacturing technology.Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role within the manufacturing industry.Proficiency in CNC programming, including Mastercam and controls such as G-code, Fanuc, or Siemens.Strong CNC tooling knowledge, including speeds and feeds.Solid understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), blueprint reading, and machining tolerances.Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other relevant quality management systems.Ability to read and interpret design blueprints accurately.Skilled at troubleshooting and resolving mechanical or logistical issues.Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting heavy objects as required.Apply by sending your CV and Qualificaitons to hr@kelseycon.co.za.
