Job BriefThe Qualified Plumber | Technician reports to the Technical Supervisor and is responsible for troubleshooting, pre-installation checks, installation, repairs, maintenance and servicing of hospital macerators in Gauteng and surrounding areas.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Administrative: Handle all calls and queries from Hospital Technical Departments in a speedily and professional manner.Ensure that all internal process documentation are completed and signed off before initiation of processes. (Assetpool / Job Cards / Quote Cards)Ensure job cards are signed off and communicated with all the necessary hospital stakeholders.Ensure e-mails are followed up and checked on a daily basis. Technical: Majority of the candidates’ duties will be performed in hospital sluice rooms.Maintain and repair Vernacare macerators which will include:Troubleshooting – identifying reasons for breakdown or repairUnblocking of blocked maceratorsReplace faulty partsEnsure drainage and water supply piping systems comply with the requirements for installation of macerators.Utilize hand tools in fitting of valves, couplings and components for plumbing system.Oversee the procurement of materials and spares.Install pipes and piping fixtures for water or sewerage systems.Mount hangers and brackets on walls to provide support for pipes and racking.Ensure compliance with building codes and set safety standards.Measure, cut, thread and assemble pipes to required angles using measurement tools.Inspect plumbing systems to identify issues and initiate repairs.Liaise with hospital technical management team and future construction companies to ensure an effective plumbing system is maintained.Ensure complete customer satisfaction from start to finish. Required Education, Skills and Experience Education and Training: 4 – 5 Year apprenticeship under an experienced plumberPassed trade examination + Red Seal CertificationCOC CertificationRegistered IOPSA memberValid SA driver’s license Skills and Abilities:Time managementOrganisational skillsAttention to detailHonesty and reliabilityExcellent communication skillsComputer literate (MS Word / Excel / PowerPoint)Ability to work as part of a team or independentlyStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsMinimum of 4+ years’ experienceFluent in English and AfrikaansPrevious work experience in a hospital technical environment
