For more info, visit our website: www. coats. com Role Purpose: The Shift Manager is responsible for ensuring the effective execution of dyehouse laboratory and bulk operations by adhering to Prescreener guidelines and SOPs.
The role focuses on monitoring key performance indicators (RFT, CQ, lead times), maintaining recipe accuracy, and driving lab-to-bulk success. This includes overseeing workflow management, error resolution, recipe mapping, and system interface updates (SAP, Colour Stitch). The Shift Manager also ensures timely delivery of re-dyes, effective machine utilization, and compliance with quality and safety standards, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. By maintaining smooth laboratory operations, housekeeping (6S), and accurate data reporting, the role contributes to operational efficiency, quality excellence, and customer satisfaction.
Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure adherence to Prescreenerâs guidelines and SOPs when releasing recipes to bulk, with a focus on improving lab-to-bulk success rates. Monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as RFT, CQ, and dyehouse lead time for own shift and overall performance. Oversee smooth workflow management within the Laboratory, including BRI/BRD and CCE requests. Support recipe management by working on the Recipe Error file, ensuring timely mapping to avoid planning delays. Calculate TACs as assigned by the Prescreener and maintain accuracy in reporting. Manage and clear SAP and Colour Stitch interfaces to ensure seamless system operations.
Oversee pick face operations, including Sedo Master activities, under the guidance of the Prescreener and Technical Manager Dyehouse. Monitor and update Grey Thread Merge changes on the floor in coordination with the Power User CS. Conduct bulk recipe pass/fail evaluations, ensuring strict compliance with all relevant SOPs. Execute timely redyes within target lead times in collaboration with the Shift Manager team. Assist the Prescreener in supervising laboratory operations to drive efficiency and quality. Track and update dyeing machine stoppages in Colour Stitch for accurate reporting and analysis. Uphold 6S standards and maintain housekeeping within the Lab area.
Monitor and report on Tier 2 KPI performance, including âOverall % Failed Batchesâ with root cause failure analysis. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelorâs degree in Textile Engineering or Chemical Engineering, or an M. Sc. in Chemistry from a recognized institution. 1â2 years of relevant industry experience in dyeing/lab operations, color formulation/matching, or textile/chemical manufacturing. Exposure to SOP-driven environments and lab-to-bulk scale-up is preferred; internships, co-ops, or plant training programs will be considered toward experience. Familiarity with ERP/production systems (e. g. , SAP) and color/recipe management tools (e. g. , Colour Stitch, Datacolor, Sedo Master) is an advantage.
