Ability to analyse complex problem situations and to develop solution approaches Good communication skills Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks You enjoy working in an international team Fluency in English Spanish is optionalEXPECTATIONS AND TASKSThe CoE ABAP Platform / Custom Code Management team focuses on the top Premium Engagement customers providing advisory for performance improvement in their developments, guidance during all Software Development Lifecycle phases and hands-on support for critical implementation projects and business-down situations.As a Support Engineer your area of responsibility will involve the following: ABAP / Custom Code Management Implement strategies for Software Lifecycle management according to customer strategies, using standard SAP Tools for Both On-Premise & Cloud solutions. Advise customers on coding best practices, quality assurance topics and available ABAP-related tools. Execute and verify impact analysis on ABAP code logic, for planned upgrades and system conversions. Execute ABAP remediation (code adjustment) activities during upgrades and conversion projects. Analyse performance on backend developments including database calls and their respective statements. Implement optimization strategies, proof of concept programs and logic for specific customer requirements using ABAP programming language. Hands-on debugging activities for root-cause analysis during critical situations. Create, Manage and optimize interfaces for integration between SAP & Non-SAP Systems / solutions. Generate programming applications and data models using RESTful approach.As part of a global team, you will be working closely with SAP Development and the global SAP Support Centres to support strategic customer initiatives. Business travel will be an essential part of this role.Work Experience Knowledge in at least one back-end development language and APIs for database integration (ABAP language preferred, JAVA, C, C++, C#, Python, Ruby, Go). Knowledge in Object-Oriented Programming fundamentals (Encapsulation, Abstraction, Inheritance, and Polymorphism) and design patterns. Knowledge of SQL usage in at least one database management system (HANA, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, Firebase). Knowledge of client-server & peer-to-peer system architectures. Experience in multiple software development projects. Open-Source activities, hackathons participation and public project collaboration is a plus.
