We are obsessive, meticulous, and relentlessly growth-minded.Qualificationsdegree from an Ivy League, Ivy Plus, or other top college (preferred)strong desire to coach high school studentsexceptional meticulousness, organization, and responsivenessability to complete tasks quickly and with precisionexcellent communication and writing skillsprior experience working with students in an admissions, tutoring, educational, or other support/mentorship role (preferred)TrainingAdvisors start with an intense training phase of 6 weeks, entailing extensive review of documents, guides, and recordings; joining our team Slack (work messaging platform); and one Zoom meeting per week. The time commitment during training is roughly 20 hours per week, almost entirely asynchronous. Advisors will receive a total stipend of $2,500 for the duration of the training period.Positions & PayFollowing successful completion of the training phase, advisors will transition to a half salary and incrementally build their roster with students. We consider a half salary position to be 7 students max and a full salary position to be 15 students max.Half Salary AdvisorTotal compensation for a half salary advisor is $35,000 per year, consisting of a $30,000/yr base salary and a $5,000 bonus at year’s end.Full Salary AdvisorOur ideal candidate would be open to eventually transitioning from a half to full salary position, provided it’s an excellent mutual fit. Given our selective process for admitting students and families to our program, advisors can be sure they’ll be working with high-achieving, driven students with complete buy-in. The advisor’s role will include the following:helping students identify unique passions, interests, and strengths that will collectively form their admissions “story” or "hook" and help to differentiate them from other competitive applicantsfacilitating the resume-building process, which will be centered on each student’s unique admissions story, once identified. Activities are wide-ranging and might include clubs, leadership, summer programs, research, internships, independent projects, self-created organizations, publications, college/online coursework, awards and competitions, or other relevant pursuitsstrategizing around and helping oversee students’ course selections, academic grades, and standardized testingcurating school lists and visit plans that are maximally calibrated to the best and best-fit colleges to which students can reasonably gain admission based on their profilesencouraging and supporting strategic selection of early decision or early action plans at students’ top-choice schoolshelping students present and supply unique details about their classroom and school impact to teachers and counselors for letters of recommendationoptimizing selection of intended majors on a school-by-school basis to give them the greatest chance of admission, based on final candidacy themes/strengths, interests, demographics, and major-specific competitiveness at each collegeproviding beginning-to-end strategy and execution on all application components, which will collectively spotlight students’ unique admissions stories and speak to the very specific ways in which they will benefit from, and contribute to, any given college—both inside and outside the classroomengaging with our team—via Slack messages, briefings, checklists, updates, and in weekly team meetings
