Commercial Manager – Energy Transition & Renewables (Public Sector)Location: Home-based with regular UK travelAn established and growing energy transition business is seeking a Commercial Manager to support its expanding portfolio of funded renewable and energy efficiency projects across the local authority and social housing sectors.The organisation is at a pivotal stage of growth, delivering projects that directly contribute to the UK’s transition to net zero. The Commercial Manager will play a key role in structuring, negotiating, and managing the commercial delivery of complex transactions, helping public sector partners implement innovative, fully funded energy solutions.This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the centre of a fast-moving industry, combining commercial responsibility with meaningful environmental and social impact.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the commercial process for new renewable and energy efficiency projects across the public sector, from initial engagement through to contract close.Manage multiple concurrent transactions, coordinating with internal teams to ensure smooth progression from investment approval to delivery.Conduct commercial and financial analysis to support pricing, deal structuring, and risk management.Negotiate and finalise contracts that balance commercial performance with long-term partnership value.Provide commercial input into bids, frameworks, and tender submissions.Oversee post-financing contract performance, ensuring ongoing compliance and value delivery.Monitor market and regulatory developments, contributing insight to help shape new propositions and products.Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate will be a commercially focused professional with strong experience in public sector procurement and a solid understanding of the renewables and energy transition landscape. They will be confident managing complex transactions, negotiating effectively, and working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.Essential skills and experience include:Proven knowledge of public sector procurement processes, ideally within social housing, local authority, or education settings.Experience in renewables, energy transition, infrastructure, investment, or asset finance.Demonstrable ability to structure and negotiate complex commercial arrangements.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.CIPS or IoSCM qualification desirable but not essential.Full UK driving licence required.This is a home-based position with regular travel across the UK for client meetings and team collaboration.
