What You’ll DoAs a key leader within NZME’s Commercial Operations team, you will develop, implement, and optimise the national commercial operations strategy across the Direct advertising sales channels. Your role ensures the sales team has the tools, systems, resources, and programmes needed to deliver revenue growth, maximise retention, and uphold NZME’s position as the media partner of choice for New Zealand businesses.A major component of your role is owning and leading the annual Sales Conference and Reward & Recognition. Alongside this, you will work with senior commercial leaders to drive operational excellence, improve sales performance, support regional leadership, and champion a customer-centric culture across NZME.How You’ll Do ItCommercial EnablementEnable Direct Sales teams to drive revenue across radio, print, and digital channels, ensuring consistent execution of NZME’s key sales messages.Enhance or develop processes to improve cross-market collaboration, information sharing, and revenue-generating opportunities.Work with regional sales leaders to build and maintain a high performance, accountable, and growth-oriented sales culture, tracking KPI’s through HubSpot.Event Management & National Sales EventsLead the planning, development, and delivery of NZME’s key national commercial events, including the Annual National Sales Academy.Coordinate all travel logistics, content development, run sheets, stakeholder communications, and on the day execution.Partner with internal teams, presenters, sponsors, and senior leadership to deliver high impact, engaging, and valuable sales conferenceManage budgets, attendee communications, RSVPs, and post event reporting.Ensure each event aligns with commercial strategy, reinforces key sales messages, and supports capability development across the Direct Sales team.Coordinate and run the GSM/SM annual ConferenceReward & RecognitionOversee the strategy, coordination, and delivery of NZME’s commercial Reward & Recognition programmes.Lead the end-to-end organisation of the Top Sales Performer event, including:event planning and programme designall travel logistics (flights, accommodation, transfers, itineraries)budget managementcommunication with finalists, leaders, and stakeholdersonsite hosting and event executionMaintain accurate tracking, reporting, and communication of recognition programmes across the Direct sales network in conjunction with Commercial Finance teamSales Performance & Revenue GrowthLead Revenue Challenges across direct markets in conjunction with Chief Commercial Officer – Direct and Head of Commercial FinanceSupport sales leaders to increase individual and team performance against targets.Ensure Direct Sales teams collaborate effectively with NZME’s wider portfolio and channel strategy teams.Ensure up to date collateral is available for the Direct teamWork collaboratively on the weekly sales update, keeping our Direct team up to date with products, leaderboards and important informationCustomer Engagement & Client ExperienceDefine and align Commercial Operations workflows to deliver consistent, seamless customer engagement.Champion a culture of continuous improvement and customer-centricity.Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal standards across all commercial operations activities.Commercial Operations SupportSupport the rollout of go-to-market strategies for the Direct sales team.Be the Direct representative for the CRM tool the Direct Sales team useAssist in the implementation of Sales Academy initiatives and recognition programmesSkills & ExperiencePlanning & OrganisationDemonstrated ability to plan and deliver events end‑to‑end, using strong organisational and coordination capabilities.Ability to work quickly and efficiently, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.Strong attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.Operate with an NZME-wide mindset, building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Technical SkillsProficient in CRM and sales booking systems.Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.Please note this is a Fixed-Term Maternity Cover role.All applicants will be asked about their working rights in New Zealand.
