Job PurposeL&T Digital Energy Solutions is seeking a skilled and driven Site Commissioning Manager – Automation Systems to lead the commissioning of SCADA, Power Plant Controllers, Field RIO cabinets, Metering Data Acquisition System, Plant Accounting Settlement Systems and associated automation systems at Renewable Solar PV project sites spread across KSA & other geographies in Middle East. This role is critical in ensuring the timely and high-quality commissioning of automation solutions that ensure optimal solar plant performance and compliance with grid code requirements.The Site Commissioning Manager shall be responsible for leading and executing the commissioning activities at project sites along with coordinating with cross-functional teams, supervising field testing, validating data exchanges, parallelly managing the Client & End Client at site with regular updates of the site progress accompanied by follow-ups for work front availabilities. Additionally, he shall maintain complete commissioning documentation, resolve technical issues on site, and support system handover and training for operations teams.Reports To :Project Manager for DES scopeDirect ReportsDepartment/Section :Digital Solutions – Middle East, AfricaJob GradeNo of Positions : 02 Resource/Candidate Identified: NoPosition of the Job in the Organization StructureKey Job Responsibilities Receiving handover of the site from Client team, identifying availability of work fronts & escalating any delays or material shortages at site affecting the progress of site activities Ensuring all required pre-requisites at site (like Panel & hardware installations, cabling works, termination works) have been completed by Client as per Schedule Lead and coordinate site activities for commissioning of SCADA systems, Power Plant Controllers (PPCs), RTUs, IEDs, communication networks, and remote monitoring systems. Collaborate with engineering and testing teams to review system architecture, I/O mapping, and functional logics at commissioned systems Oversee installation verification, pre-commissioning checks, loop testing, and full system commissioning Interface with & manage EPC contractors, OEMs, utility/discom engineers, and internal stakeholders for seamless execution along with regular updates to Client & End Client with regards to project progress and to highlight any concern or issue affecting the site activities Conduct SATs, support third-party inspections, and assign commissioning team schedule & plan to resolve NCRs and punch points on site Maintain documentation such as site logs, commissioning reports, configuration backups, and as-built drawings Provide site training to O&M teams on automation systems and remote monitoring tools Share daily & weekly progress reports with Project Manager & Operations Head Prepare Resource mobilization demobilization plan & ensure timely mobilization & demobilization of required resources at site Maintain record of available inventories at site & ensure utilization of same in timely manner Represent Company on site during the execution and commissioning phase, acting as a key focal point for all site related activities Assisting Site Commissioning Team with any technical or troubleshooting support and raising the call for additional Technical Support in advance as & when required to resolve any major issues at site Leading weekly progress update meetings at site to brief Client & End Client about work progress, challenges, upcoming activities plan & readiness of work fronts Interactions (Internal) Operations Head MEA Project Managers Other Internal departments Interactions (External) Clients Customers Consultants Key Suppliers Knowledge, Skills And AbilityBachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation / Mechatronics Engineering8+ years of relevant experience in automation and control system commissioning, with 3+ years in Renewable Solar PV or similar power sector domainsHands-on experience with SCADA systems, RTUs, PPCs, Modbus/TCP-IP, OPC, DNP3, IEC 61850, and data acquisition over fiber/ethernet-based networksStrong knowledge of solar power plant architecture and grid compliance parametersExperience working with digital energy solutions, including remote diagnostics and energy dashboards, is an advantageStrong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skillsWillingness to travel and work at remote project sites for extended durationsExposure to RTDS-based simulations and digital twin setups (preferred but not mandatory)Strong understanding of grid compliance features like ramp rate control, reactive power support, and real-time control logicExpertise in Modbus TCP/RTU, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3, and IEC 61850 for device and grid interfacingBasic understanding of IP networking, VLANs, firewalls, and secure remote access.Experience managing commissioning with DISCOMs/SLDCsAbility to plan daily/weekly tasks and align with overall commissioning schedulesAccuracy in preparing commissioning reports, checklists, and compliance documentsAbility to independently lead site activities and guide teams under pressureCapable of training client or O&M teams and ensuring smooth system transitionPhysical Environment The job requires working at Project Site environment Qualification And Experience RequiredAcademic Qualification/sEssential: B.E/B.Tech in Electrical OR Electronics Engineering.Overall Experience: 8 Years or more
