They shape the way the firm connects with people—from clients to employees to alumni—strengthening institutional relationships, connections and affiliations.By spearheading media relations, orchestrating impactful media events, maximizing chamber membership opportunities, and leading editorial content creation, you will be instrumental in elevating the firm’s public profile and influence on a global and local stage. Leveraging your deep knowledge of media landscapes and event strategy, alongside your editorial expertise and proactive engagement, you will ensure the firm’s voice resonates clearly with targeted audiences, amplifies thought leadership, and upholds its reputation across all channels.In this role you will be responsible for the Media Relations Leadership: You will develop and nurture relationships with key journalists and editors, especially within Japanese business media, ensuring strategic firm messaging is delivered through the most relevant publications.You will monitor media coverage and evolving industry trends to shape effective messaging strategies and swiftly coordinate responses to media inquiries.You will prepare press releases, organize media briefings, schedule interviews, and provide in-depth media training for internal spokespeople to ensure consistency and professionalism in all external communications.You will also manage Media Event and Chamber Engagement:You will design and execute high-impact media events that reinforce the firm’s presence and thought leadership on critical topics.You will be responsible in maximizing the value of chamber memberships and industry associations by fostering partnerships, securing speaking opportunities, and enhancing the firm’s visibility and influence within these networks.You will conduct research on event speakers, competitor involvement, and audience engagement to inform event strategies and outcomes, presenting actionable insights to leadership.You will actively monitor and seek speaker opportunities at relevant industry events to build pre-eminence.Furthermore, you will be responsible for Editorial Content and Publishing:You will craft clear, compelling editorial content—including memos, marketing briefs, blogs, articles, newsletters, and storytelling materials—that adhere to the highest standards of written Japanese and English when needed.You will oversee the end-to-end publishing process for thought leadership pieces, special editorial projects, and paid editorials, ensuring alignment with the firm’s signature voice, visual identity, and narrative.You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to generate strategic content that advances the firm’s communication objectives and supports brand initiatives.Lastly, you will be responsible for Project Management and Execution:You will develop and implement best-in-class communications and event strategies across channels such as media, web, and social, ensuring alignment with stakeholders and organizational objectives.You will independently lead complex projects and reputation-building initiatives, including publishing activities and managing reputation risks with appropriate coordination.You will Track and analyze key metrics through reports and scorecards, and manage contact databases to maximize outreach, engagement, and program effectiveness.Your Qualifications and SkillsBachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience3+ years of experience in public relations, media relations, strategic media writing, and corporate communicationMedia & PR Expertise: Strong understanding of media landscape in Japan, preferably with established experience working with journalistsProfessional Excellence: Proven ability to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environmentPersonal Attributes: Curious, proactive, and collaborative team player with a growth mindsetProject Management: Ability to develop and execute project plans, set realistic timelines, and manage resources effectivelyStakeholder Management: Strong skills in managing stakeholder expectations and ensuring satisfactionTeam Collaboration: Experience working in cross-functional teams and motivating team membersProblem-Solving and Adaptability: Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and adapt to changing requirementsAudience-Centric Communication: Ability to craft messages that resonate with diverse audiencesCommunication and Presentation: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearlyNative-level proficiency in Japanese and business-level English
