OVERVIEWThe Communications Specialist: Digital Media & Creative Storytelling supports the mission of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) by producing engaging written and visual content that informs and celebrates its members while also informing all external and internal stakeholders who access the content. These stakeholders include policymakers, reporters / news outlets, peer organizations, and more.This position serves as the lead producer for the organization’s online magazine – coordinating, in collaboration with the director of Communications – all aspects of editorial planning, content creation, multimedia integration, and publication. This work includes interviewing, writing, editing, proofreading, and enhancing stories with graphics, animations, and videos prior to publishing them to the PAGE website. The role also encompasses content creation and graphics production for PAGE social media as well as contributions to broader stakeholder messaging – ensuring consistent, high-quality storytelling across all platforms.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESIn collaboration with the director of Communications:Coordinate content production and publication schedules for the organization’s online magazine and social media platforms.Plan and coordinate themes, story ideation, and promotional campaigns.Conduct interviews as preparation for story creation.Write and/or edit and proofread feature stories, blog posts, news items, social media posts, and creative materials.Create and integrate visuals – including graphics, photos, animations, reels, and short videos – to accompany content approved for publication.Format, upload, and publish content / creative on the PAGE website and social media platforms.Create and maintain detailed production schedules to ensure timely publication.Collaborate on the production of additional digital and print publications and creative deliverables.Maintain library of digital assets, including photos, videos, graphics, and animations.Support website content management and updates for accuracy, timeliness, and engagement.Assist in creating innovative visual and written materials for marketing, events, and advocacy initiatives.Coordinate with freelance writers, photographers, and designers as needed.Stay current on trends in education, journalism, digital storytelling, and multimedia design.Attend certain PAGE events and presentations to capture photos and video, gather background, conduct interviews, and draft content and visuals for publication.Edit content, photos, videos, and other creative materials.Additional duties as assigned.This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties or responsibilities. PAGE reserves the right to modify or revise this description to reflect organizational priorities, evolving communication needs, and emerging media practices.QUALIFICATIONS & CORE COMPETENCIESEducation / Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in writing, editing, and multimedia content / design creation (experience in education or nonprofit communications preferred).Skills and Abilities - Required:Exceptional writing and editing skills: Expert in AP Style, interviewing, and narrative storytelling.Experience with graphics creation, animation, videography, and photography to enhance multimedia storytelling.Digital and creative media proficiency: Skilled in Wix-based website design / publishing, and software that include Vev, Shorthand, Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite (emphasis on Photoshop and Premiere Pro).Project tracking: Proven ability to create and adhere to editorial calendars and production schedules.Organized and detail-oriented: Able to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and contributors.Collaborative: Works effectively with internal teams and external partners.Mission-driven: Passionate about PAGE’s mission to support and advance Georgia educators and public education.Self-starter who brings initiative, high-energy, and innovation to the role.Creative, resourceful, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.Positive and solutions-focused attitude.Committed to excellence, accuracy, and continuous learning.Strong interpersonal skills; able to represent PAGE professionally and with enthusiasm.Must have reliable transportation for travel to/from onsite and offsite locations as well as occasional special events in greater-metro and beyond.Skills and Abilities – Preferred but Not Required:Proficient in InDesign.Ability to script, record, and edit original podcasts as well as create AI-generated podcasts utilizing Google Notebook or similar.WORK ENVIRONMENT & LOCATIONThis is a hybrid role: a combination of working with the team onsite at PAGE offices in Atlanta and at offsite meeting locations as well as working remotely from a greater Atlanta-based location.Occasional evening or weekend work required for PAGE events or publication deadlines.Occasional travel within Georgia for PAGE events, interviews, and coverage.SALARY & BENEFITSThe starting salary is based on experience with an attractive health and retirement benefits package.
