Job Description

Position currently qualifies for a telework option for 1 day a week. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management. The Division of Soil and Water Conservation is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Conservation Program Coordinator. This position will play a key role within the Division's Cost Share Programs section, helping to advance Soil and Water Conservation efforts across North Carolina.

This position requires understanding and dissemination of information covering state policy, state conservation programs, state and federal natural resource issues on private lands, and scientific knowledge of nonpoint source pollution water quality resource concerns. Key ResponsibilitiesThis position supports Soil and Water Conservation Commission programs, will primarily support the Community Conservation Assistance Program (CCAP) and will produce training resources related to Cost Share Program rules and policies. It will also provide technical support for the Job Approval Authority (JAA) program on behalf of the Cost Share Programs. Specific duties includeCoordinating implementation of CCAP across 96 local soil and water conservation districts.

Providing technical and programmatic assistance to district staff. Developing and updating conservation practice standards and guidance documents. Identifying and implementing process improvements and policy revisions to enhance program efficiency. Facilitating workgroups and committees to achieve program goals. Developing asynchronous (online) and synchronous (live) training modules and materials (documents, presentations, videos, visuals) related to program policies and rules. Organizing and conducting in-person and webinar training sessions for district staff. Managing program budgets and overseeing allocation of funds. Coordinating with local, state, and federal partners to align efforts and share resources.

Supporting the Commission's Job Approval Authority program by providing technical expertise and assistance. Reviewing and approving cost share contracts and payments. Conducting program reviews to ensure compliance with Soil and Water Conservation Commission policies and technical standards. Work location: Wake County or Davie County. Experience in stormwater management and addressing water quality resource concerns in developed or urban landscapes. Technical knowledge or proficiency with NC conservation program benefits quantification tools (NCANAT/RUSLE2) or other nutrient and sediment estimation tools for watershed protection (SNAP, PLET/STEPL, etc. ).

Demonstrated Job Approval Authority for conservation practices from the NC Soil and Water Conservation Commission or the United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service including benefitsExperience or certifications in using educational technology, including Learning Management Systems (LMS), presentation software, and other digital tools for asynchronous educational content creation and delivery. You may qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience, either through years of education or years of directly related experience, or a combination of both.

Bachelor's degree in one of the agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience related to the area of assignment (conservation programs (in relation to Soil & Water Conservation) or natural resources management;) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
