Job Description

A thriving construction company is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator with a background in pre-engineered steel construction to join their growing team. This individual will play a critical role in preparing competitive, accurate bids and takeoffs for commercial ground-up projects. Reporting directly to leadership, the ideal candidate will manage multiple estimates simultaneously, interact with vendors and subcontractors, and ensure proposals reflect both the scope of work and company standards. They’re looking for a hard-working, detail-oriented estimator who values integrity and is ready to grow with a highly stable, ethics-driven construction firm.Construction Estimator ResponsibilitiesAnalyze project drawings, specifications, and related documents to develop accurate cost estimates and labor projectionsPerform quantity takeoffs for pre-engineered steel and other commercial construction componentsPrepare bid packages and review subcontractor bids for accuracy, completeness, and scope alignmentMaintain current pricing databases by building and managing vendor and supplier relationshipsCommunicate with subcontractors to solicit and evaluate pricing and availabilityCollaborate closely with project managers and drafters to align estimates with production requirementsPresent bids to leadership, including labor, materials, and subcontractor recommendationsEnsure proposals are submitted on time and in a professional, detailed mannerAssist with post-bid evaluations and change order pricingConstruction Estimator Requirements7+ years of construction experience, including at least 5 years estimating ground-up commercial projectsProven expertise in pre-engineered steel buildings is requiredAbility to bid multiple projects simultaneously, typically 5–10 at a timeExperience with takeoffs, labor and equipment cost analysis, and subcontractor bid evaluationStrong Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office and bidding softwareStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentClean driving recordCultural fit with company’s values: humility, honesty, accountability, and integrityExperience with Tekla PowerFab or Microsoft Project is a plusPre-engineered steel background with experience estimating projects in the $1M–$5M range is preferredFamiliarity with Mennonite-based business values is a plusBenefitsDiscretionary quarterly bonuses and year-end performance incentives401(k) with company matchPTO6 paid holidaysCompany vehicleCompany phone, laptop, fuel card, and branded apparelTeam banquets and travel-based appreciation tripsThis role is ideal for a grounded, detail-driven estimator who thrives in a collaborative environment and values long-term stability over flash.
