Our client is a small, rapidly growing construction company expanding their operations in the Halifax region. They deliver high-quality commercial and residential projects and pride themselves on professionalism, strong trade relationships, and efficient project execution. As their workload increases, the are looking for a highly capable Site Superintendent who can take ownership of day-to-day site operations while working closely with their management team.Role OverviewThe Site Superintendent will lead on-site construction activities from groundbreaking to project completion. This position is fully on-site, with the majority of time spent directly overseeing trades, ensuring work quality, maintaining schedules, and solving issues in real time. While there will be minimal office responsibilities (documentation, reporting, coordination), this is not a hybrid or remote role.They need someone who is confident working independently, can make sound decisions on the spot, and knows when to request additional support or escalate issues.Key ResponsibilitiesDirect and supervise daily on-site activities for commercial and/or residential construction projectsCoordinate and manage subcontractors, ensuring work is completed safely, correctly, and on scheduleMaintain and enforce site safety protocols, ensuring full compliance with Nova Scotia OHS regulationsTrack progress, update schedules, and communicate effectively with the project manager and company leadershipIdentify issues early, propose solutions, and seek guidance when neededConduct site inspections and ensure all work meets company quality standardsManage site documentation including daily reports, site logs, safety records, and material deliveriesRepresent the company professionally when dealing with clients, trades, inspectors, and suppliersAssist with pre-construction planning and provide input based on field experienceQualifications7–10+ years of experience in a Site Superintendent or comparable leadership role in constructionProven ability to manage crews, coordinate trades, and oversee multiple construction phases independentlyStrong understanding of construction methods, building codes, safety practices, and project sequencingExcellent problem-solving skills and the confidence to make decisions autonomouslyStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the judgment to ask for support when requiredValid driver’s license and reliable transportationProficient with basic construction-related software considered an assetWillingness to relocate to Halifax, NS if not currently localWhat We OfferCompetitive compensation package based on experience (100-110k annually plus benefits)Opportunities for career growth as the company expandsSupportive, small-team environment with direct access to leadershipStable pipeline of upcoming projects in the Halifax region
