Who we are?The Primary Construction Team consists of ACCIONA Infrastructure Canada Inc. (ACCIONA) and Amico Major Projects Inc. (Amico), as Trillium Guideway Partners (TGP).What is the project?The Ontario Line (“OL”) is a fully integrated, stand-alone, rapid transit system that connects Ontario Science Centre to the Exhibition and Ontario Place grounds. The Northern Civil, Stations and Tunnel (“NC”) project consists of approximately 7 kms of underground subway and elevated guideway, with stations along the segment providing connections to surface bus and streetcar routes. The NC project has been divided into two main progressive design-build contracts: (1) the Elevated Guideways and Stations Contract (“EGS”) and the Pape Tunnel and Underground Station Contract (“PTUS”), with supporting Early Works.What is the Opportunity?As a Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of contract management for the EGS Project as part of the Ontario Line Portfolio, with a specific focus on collaboration model contracts (e.g., Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), alliancing, or other collaborative frameworks). You will play a key role in ensuring the effective management, negotiation, and execution of contracts, fostering strong working relationships with stakeholders, and promoting a collaborative working environment.ResponsibilitiesContract Development & Negotiation:Review and negotiate Agreements with all stakeholders, ensuring a best for Project approach, whilst protecting the Joint Venture Partners. Lead negotiations with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to achieve favorable terms and conditions, ensuring alignment with project objectives and budgetary constraints.Collaborate closely with legal teams, project stakeholders, and external consultants to ensure contracts are suitable for the works being carried out and meet the requirements of the Stakeholders and the Project Agreement. Vendor Management: Oversee the selection, qualification, and performance evaluation of vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers, fostering productive relationships and resolving disputes as necessary.Contract Administration:Oversee the administration of collaboration contracts throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that all contractual obligations are met by all partiesMonitor performance and compliance to contract terms, resolving any issues or disputes that arise through proactive communication and negotiation.Change Management: Manage change orders and modifications to contracts, assessing impacts on cost, schedule, and scope, and facilitating resolution of conflicts.Correspondence: Ensure compliance with the Project Agreement in relation to Submittals, NCR’s and respond to all correspondence within the required timeframe.Manage the contractual obligations in relation to NCR’s to ensure the partners are not subject to penalties included within the Project Agreement.Risk ManagementIdentify, assess, and mitigate potential risks associated with contractual agreements, including legal, financial, and project delivery risks.Review and provide expertise in the input to the QRA risk modelling software.Ensure all insurance requirements for the Partners, Subcontractors and any other 3rd parties as required meet the requirement of the Project Agreement. Ensure that all risk allocation and management processes are incorporated into the contracts.Ensure risk apportionment is clearly defined within all agreements to ensure favorable terms.Reporting and DocumentationEnsure all reporting requirements within the Project Agreement are met and provide support and input where necessary.Prepare regular reports and updates on contract status, key performance indicators, and emerging issues for project stakeholders, including, senior management and client.Ensure all Change Registers. Correspondence Logs, Instruction Logs and any other registers as required are full kept up to date.Ensure weekly team progress reports and Executive Committee reports are completed on time and to a high standard. Establish and maintain a centralized repository for all contract-related documents, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and confidentiality.Compliance and Best Practice.Ensure adherence to relevant Ontario legislation, industry standards, and best practices in contract management and project deliveryStay updated on the latest trends, laws, and regulations related to collaborationbased contract models in the construction and infrastructure sectors.Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, including permits, licenses, insurance, and bonding, throughout the construction phase.Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization in contract management practices, implementing best practices and lessons learned.Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:Facilitate a collaborative, team-oriented environment among the project’s stakeholders, including contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and project owners.Promote open communication and conflict resolution methods to ensure smooth collaboration and project progress.Foster a Best for Project approach within the project and the team.Team Leadership & Development:Manage and mentor a team of contract administrators, project coordinators, and other relevant staff, ensuring they are effectively executing their responsibilities in line with the project’s objectives.Provide leadership and guidance to the team on contractual matters, ensuring that they are equipped to resolve issues and promote collaboration.Foster a collaborative, high-performance work environment by promoting open communication, accountability, and continuous professional development.Conduct regular performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for career growth for team membersWork ConditionsFull-time position: 5 days per week with hours of work 08:00 – 17:00Office-based: Don Mills Area, North York Next to Science CentreThis role will require working closely with diverse teams of engineers, architects, contractors, and legal professionals to ensure the project stays on track.You’ll bring to the Team (Knowledge, Skills, Competencies)Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Law, Business Administration, or a related field. A professional designation such as PMP, FRICS, or a law degree is an asset.A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in contract management within large-scale infrastructure or construction projects, with a strong focus on collaboration- based contract models such as IPD or alliancing.Proven experience in drafting, negotiating, and administering collaboration contracts in Ontario or other Canadian jurisdictions.At least 2 years of experience in leading and managing a team, with a demonstrated ability to develop team members and build a cohesive, high-functioning group.Please note that only candidates that meet requirements will be contacted.
