Company Overview:We are an established company, rapidly expanding, with a new brand and new management, operating out of Toronto. Blue Fox Entertainment Canada leverages the legacy and operational strengths of its physical media and e-commerce distribution businesses alongside its strong track record in theatrical distribution and acquisitions. Position Summary:The Controller will oversee the finance and accounting function, ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and efficient integration of both digital and physical distribution business models. This role is hands-on and will be responsible for day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, while supporting business growth.Key Responsibilities:Financial Reporting & ComplianceManage full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and reconciliationsWork with team on inventory and cost accounting processPrepare quarterly and annual financial statements Prepare internal reports for leadership and other business functionsEnsure compliance with all Canadian federal and provincial tax requirements (GST/HST, corporate income tax, payroll deductions, etc.)Coordinate and execute on any required audits and tax filingsBudgeting & ForecastingLead the annual budgeting process and periodic re-forecastsMonitor actual performance against budgets Prepare and monitor cash flow needsRevenue Accounting & RoyaltiesOversee revenue recognition from distribution deals (theatrical, TV, digital, home entertainment, etc.)Administer participation and royalty reporting to content owners and producersTeam Leadership & Process ImprovementThis role will initially work alongside the physical media accounting team, with the opportunity to build and grow the finance team as the business expandsDrive automation, efficiency, and scalability in financial processes and systemsDevelop and enforce financial policies, procedures, and internal controlsSupport integration of new business units or acquisitionQualifications:3+ years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably with exposure to media, entertainmentFamiliarity with film financing models, distribution revenue streams, and royalty/participation accountingExperience with accounting software (e.g., Spire, QuickBooks) and Excel proficiencyExcellent attention to detail, organizational, and time management skillsPassion for film and media industry is highly desirableWhat We Offer:Competitive compensation and benefit planHybrid work flexibility (office located in North Toronto)A supportive, creative, and film-loving team environmentOpportunities to grow within a vibrant and evolving industry
