Our values shape the way we consult and define the people we want to join us on our journey.The ProjectAs the Cape Town region continues to grow and expand with various building projects and infrastructure programmes, we are searching for a dynamic Cost Consultant who has demonstrated an eagerness to learn and adapt to evolving project requirements and expected outcomes.We will be supporting our regional and international clients on various projects and programmes; from residential and commercial buildings to infrastructure development and transactional advisory services.You’ll Be Responsible ForConducts feasibility studies, advising on procurement strategies and contract selection, writing and undertaking procurement reports.Applies the value management techniques at the outset of a projectManages, estimating and cost planning activities to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan.Assists in procurement and selection of main contractor.Prepares contract documents, warranties, bonds and licenses and assist formal execution by the appropriate parties.Advises on administration of the terms of the building contract.Measures and provides valuations of the work carried out and adjust variations in accordance with the terms of the contract and agree with the contractor.Provides cost control and reporting services during the contract.Prepares financial reports for the client in the form and at the frequency required.Identifies all costs associated with design changes, contract awards, construction activities and client charges.Participates in the evaluation of claims for delay and additional costs made by the contractor and any nominated subcontractors/suppliers.Advises on the issue of certificates of practical completion and ensure that final accounts are negotiated and agreed.Advises on issue of certificate of making good defects and final completion in accordance with any requirements relating to completion, submissions and approvals.Provides informal mentoring/training to junior members of the team.Seeks opportunities for continuous improvements/ improving working processes.Develops effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.Manages stakeholders.Delivers improvements in systems and processes, driving transformational change.You’ll Need To HaveRight to work, or ability to obtain a VISA for occupation and work in South Africa.Valid Driving License and vehicleMinimum 5-6 years’ relevant work experienceDegree in quantity surveying/cost management (or other equivalent construction related degree).Essential: Candidate Registration with RICS, SACQSP, SACPCMP or PMP with firm commitment to obtaining professional membership status within 12-24 months.Desirable/ Ideal: Full, professional membership with the RICS, SACQSP, SACPCMP or PMPExperience in working on various contracts, including: FIDIC, JBCC, Good and Services Contract, NEC etcCommercial and financial acumen.Knowledge of value engineering, life cycle costing, contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction and procurementExperience of managing parts of projects within large, diverse teams.Experience of developing relationships with key senior stakeholders.Experience in providing accurate data and analysis to support contract decisions and performance tracking.Experience in developing procurement strategies and understanding regional procurement rules and regulations.Our valuesSafety first - Going home safe and well: We champion a safe, diverse and inclusive working environment, understanding the importance of wellbeing in every team.Client focus - Deliver on our promise: We own the quality of deliverables, strategic outcomes and build long term relationships with our clients.Integrity - Always do the right thing: We influence positive outcomes within our industry, while always aligning with our compliance obligations.Create opportunity - For our people to excel: We champion a continuous improvement culture throughout all activities, inspiring our people and teams to develop.Mace is an inclusive employer and welcomes interest from a diverse range of candidates.
