ProjectThe Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and would produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG.Woodfibre Management Ltd. is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.PositionWe are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Cost Specialist to join our project controls team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in reviewing subcontractor costs, with specific expertise in Time & Material (T&M) contract structures. This role involves validating cost submissions, ensuring compliance with contract terms, identifying cost inefficiencies, and supporting commercial negotiations on projects across Canada.Key Responsibilities:The successful applicant will:Subcontractor Cost Review:Review, analyze, and validate subcontractor cost submissions for accuracy and compliance with T&M contract termsEnsure claimed labor hours, equipment rates, and material costs are in line with contractual entitlementsVerify support documentation such as timesheets, invoices, purchase orders, and equipment logsCost Control & Tracking:Regular monitoring and tracking of committed and actual costs against budgetsPrepare cost variance analyses and report on cost trends and deviationsWork closely with the Project Controls team, Construction Management team and Procurement teams to maintain financial transparencyContract Compliance:Ensure subcontractor invoices align with contractual requirements including rate schedules, mark-ups, and reimbursable termsSupport audits and cost reconciliations as neededAssist in change order evaluations and negotiation support from a cost perspectiveReporting & Communication:Prepare regular cost reports and summaries for internal and external stakeholdersSupport project controls and finance teams with detailed cost insightsCommunicate findings and recommendations clearly and professionally to project stakeholdersCollaborate and review with contractors and subcontractors to implement best practice on cost management. RequirementsRequired Experience: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, Quantity Surveying or related fieldMinimum 5 years of experience in cost engineering or quantity surveying with a strong focus on subcontractor cost reviews under T&M contractsSolid understanding of Canadian construction cost norms and contract structuresFamiliarity with labor agreements, equipment rate books, and typical T&M claim componentsProficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must; experience with cost management systems (e.g., SAP, Prism, or similar) is an assetStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skillsAdditional Requirements:Experience working with large multi-disciplinary teams and contractors in a multicultural environment is an assetAccepts responsibility and demonstrates a commitment to the delivery of tasks and targetsExceptional written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work well under pressure, handle multiple tasks, and change priorities within tight time framesAbility to work collaboratively within a team environmentExpertise with a variety of computer programs (e.g., Office 365, MS teams, MS Visio, MS Projects, Teams, Adobe Acrobat, DocuSign etc.)Motivated and willing to take ownership of tasksEnergetic in pursuit of continuous improvement processesShares knowledge readily and encourages personal developmentA valid driver's license and passportMust be legally entitled to work in CanadaThe position is based in Vancouver Office in with a visit to the Site Project as required.
