About The RoleJoin Uber's Mobility Legal Team as a Commercial Attorney and play a key role in shaping the future of rideshare. We're looking for a deal-making expert who is passionate about creating groundbreaking legal frameworks for our most critical partnerships for rideshare and commercial transportation services. If you're a proactive, results-oriented attorney who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment, we encourage you to apply!This role would be based out of our San Francisco or Washington, DC office on a hybrid model.What You'll Do Own the Deal Process: Independently draft and negotiate bespoke partnership agreements. Leverage your commercial expertise to craft agreements for first-of-a-kind products and services for which there is little-to-no existing precedent. Be a Strategic Advisor: Partner directly with business leaders, providing clear, actionable legal advice and risk analyses to drive business objectives. Deploy sound legal judgment while reviewing product features and programmatic initiatives to ensure that risk mitigation considerations are factored into operational decisions. Pioneer New Solutions: Design and implement innovative legal frameworks to scale our partnerships with transportation fleets, vehicle manufacturers, and technology providers. Accelerate Mobility Growth: Help expand access to rideshare vehicles-including a focus on accelerating our electric vehicle initiatives. Collaborate and Innovate: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as Business Development, Product, Operations, Employment, Regulatory, and Privacy to provide comprehensive advice and create solutions that allow the business to move quickly and responsibly. Build Foundational Tools: Build out negotiation playbooks, templates, and other tools to help standardize and manage the team's deal portfolio. Basic Qualifications Minimum of 5 years legal experience OR minimum 4+ years experience + 1 year Uber internal experience Private practice, government, and/or in-house experience J.D. and license to practice law in at least one state Proven experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a regulated industry, particularly in transportation, fleet operations, rideshare, vehicle OEM, or a related technology space. Ability to understand and navigate complex business models, translating that knowledge into effective legal contracts. Excellent business judgment, communication and interpersonal skills. A self-motivated, creative problem-solver who can work effectively with cross-functional teams and operate with a high degree of autonomy. For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$208,000 per year - USD$231,000 per year. For Washington, DC-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$208,000 per year - USD$231,000 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
