The CD provides overall leadership for strategy, programs, operations, partnerships, and people, ensuring CARE Haiti remains a trusted, influential, and future‑ready actor in a highly complex environment. The CD reports directly to the Regional Director.Role OverviewThe Country Director sets the strategic direction for CARE Haiti and represents the organization at the highest levels. The role requires a leader who is:Innovative - drives digital transformation and new models of change.Network‑oriented - builds strong partnerships with government, civil society, communities, and the private sector.Skilled in complexity - leads diverse teams with emotional intelligence and clarity.Impact‑focused - delivers cost‑effective, scalable results.Agile - adapts to Haiti’s rapidly shifting political, economic, and security landscape.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic LeadershipDevelop and execute a multi‑year strategy aligned with CARE’s global priorities and Haiti’s national context.Lead organizational transformation and innovation to keep CARE Haiti agile and competitive.Strengthen foresight, scenario planning, and evidence‑based decision‑making.People & CultureLead and inspire a diverse team, fostering inclusion, accountability, learning, and collaboration.Build leadership pipelines and ensure strong succession planning.Promote knowledge‑sharing and organizational resilience.Partnerships & Resource MobilizationSecure diversified funding from institutional, multilateral, philanthropic, and private‑sector partners.Cultivate high‑level relationships with Haitian authorities, donors, civil society, and business leaders.Explore innovative financing models, including impact investment, CSR partnerships, and local resource generation.Position CARE Haiti as a credible, influential partner shaping policy and donor agendas.Operational ExcellenceEnsure efficient, compliant, and cost‑effective operations aligned with CARE’s global standards.Lead safeguarding, security, and risk‑management efforts in Haiti’s fragile context.Maintain financial sustainability through strong budgeting, cost recovery, and prudent use of unrestricted resources.Adjust structures and systems to remain fit‑for‑purpose as the operating environment evolves.Program Quality & ImpactEnsure programs are evidence‑based, community‑led, and designed for scale.Advance localization and strengthen Haitian civil society partnerships.Leverage technology and entrepreneurial models to deepen impact for vulnerable populations, especially women and girls.Candidate ProfileYou bring senior leadership experience in complex or fragile contexts, excel at partnership‑building, and have a strong record of delivering transformative, scalable impact. You lead with curiosity, courage, and a commitment to gender equality and locally led development. This role requires experience in complex emergencies, strong financial oversight, full professional fluency in French and English.Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related field required 6-8 years in senior management position in development fieldStrategic and operational Management Demonstrated experience in leading strategic and operational planning Extensive conceptual skills including strategic analysis Demonstrated management skills in a complex international settingPeople/Relationship Management Demonstrated self-awareness, leadership and interpersonal skills Strong human resource management skills including capacity building, coaching and conflict management; Experience supervising and developing a multi-disciplinary team in a cross-cultural setting; Demonstrated interest and ability to give feedback, develop, motivate and lead a diverse team to achieve results; Demonstrated use of positive coping strategies in stressful environmentsFinancial Management Knowledge and experience with financial management as demonstrated by ability to: Must possess the ability to manage a complex budget Effectively follow-up on internal and external audit recommendations (not sure if this is a skill Ensure donor compliance and reportingInformation/Knowledge Management Ability to establish a learning culture within the CO and to facilitate knowledge sharing across CAREPreferred Qualifications Master's degree in related fieldThere are individuals who may use CARE’s name and trademark in emails and on websites in an attempt to solicit fees from interested job-seekers.
