Job Title: Country Lead - EswatiniLocation: Mbabane, Eswatini (Full-time, in-person)About ThumoThumo is an American international technology company building a super-app for Africa - starting with food delivery.. We’ve raised $2M (E35M) in funding and are scaling across the continent with a mix of global expertise and deep local execution.Eswatini, where Thumo is currently the leading food delivery platform with 18K+ users, is one of our key launch markets, and we’re looking for a Country Lead to own and grow the business on the ground. Role OverviewAs the Eswatini Country Lead, you will be responsible for P&L, growth, and operations in the country. You’ll work directly with Thumo’s international leadership team, manage local teams across multiple functions, and build strong relationships with partner stores and other stakeholders.This is a role for someone who wants to build, not just manage – ideal for a high-ownership operator who understands Southern Africa and is excited about scaling a startup.Key Responsibilities1. Financial & Operational ManagementOwn and manage the Eswatini budget, including revenue, costs, and profitability.Use Excel, Google Sheets, and related tools to track performance, forecast growth, and report to international leadership.Monitor key KPIs (orders, GMV, active users, delivery performance, etc.) and drive continuous improvement.2. Strategy & Collaboration with International LeadershipWork closely with Thumo’s international leadership team to localise strategy for Eswatini.Help allocate international resources (capital, technical support, marketing budgets, etc.) to maximise growth and impact locally.Provide on-the-ground insights about customer behaviour, competition, and regulatory environment.3. Store & Partner RelationshipsBuild and maintain strong relationships with restaurants, retailers, and other partners.Negotiate commercial terms, resolve issues quickly, and ensure partners see Thumo as a long-term growth partner.Ensure store onboarding, menu quality, pricing, and service levels meet Thumo’s standards.4. Team Leadership & People ManagementHire, train, and manage local teams across:Marketing & growthStore acquisition & account managementDriver operations & logisticsSet clear targets, run weekly check-ins, and create a high-performance, accountable culture.Coach and develop team members so they can grow with the company.5. Local Strategy & ExecutionDesign and execute local marketing strategies (online, offline, partnerships, promotions).Lead store acquisition efforts to bring high-quality restaurants and retailers onto the platform.Oversee driver operations: recruitment, performance, reliability, and service quality.6. Expansion Beyond Food DeliveryCoordinate plans for the introduction of new services beyond food delivery (e.g. groceries, parcels, rides, or other verticals).Test new ideas in the Eswatini market, collect data, and recommend which new services to scale.RequirementsMinimum RequirementsApplication submitted by email to careers@thumo.app.Willingness to adopt a startup mindset – high ownership, hands-on, willing to solve problems outside a fixed job description.High adaptability and comfort working in a fast-changing environment.University degree (Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field preferred, but not strictly required for exceptional candidates).2+ years of business experience in managerial roles, ideally in Eswatini or South Africa.Preferred Experience & SkillsExperience in any of the following: logistics, FMCG, food delivery, ride-hailing, retail, or fast-moving consumer businesses.Strong numerical and analytical skills; comfortable with spreadsheets and dashboards.Proven experience hiring and managing teams.Excellent communication skills in English; Siswati or other local languages a plus.Deep understanding of local consumer behaviour and business culture in Eswatini/Southern Africa.Compensation & BenefitsSalary: USD $800–$2,000 per month, E13,500–R34,000 per month, depending on exchange rates. Significant equity in Thumo Eswatini.
