The Data Team is responsible for ensuring that the business has access to reliable and actionable data. This is to inform product development and meet business objectives.In your role, you will work with the Data Team in the Engineering Department to collect, model, and analyze data to help the company become more productive and profitable. As a Data Analyst, you will be tasked with transforming raw data into usable models, planning and assessing the results of A/B Tests, and assisting internal teams in building out their own reporting.This role reports to the Team Lead, Data.This is a remote role, and the team member can work from anywhere in Canada.Responsibilities:Collaborating with project stakeholders and the data team to design and build scalable, user friendly systems for our customersBuilding and testing data models using SQL and dbtExposing high quality and documented data sets to end users through our BI toolDebugging data quality issues as they ariseWorking with stakeholders like Product Managers, Product Analysts, and Developers, and supporting them with ad hoc analysesFollowing proper data architecture and development paradigmsDiscussing strategy and outlining tradeoffs of potential software solutionsPerforming data analysis to support external teamsParticipating in Scrum ceremoniesRequirements:University degree or college diploma in a recognized technical, vocational or academic program (preferably in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or Computer Science) or equivalent work experience4+ years of working experience with SQL2+ years of working experience with dbt (“data build tool”)Experience with a cloud data warehouse (e.g. Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query)Experience with a BI Tool and creating data visualizations (e.g. Looker)Experience turning data into actionable insightsExperience building analytical data modelsAble to communicate efficiently with stakeholders, both verbally and writtenNice to Have:Experience working as part of a data teamA background in StatisticsExperience working with & assisting data consumersExperience working in an Agile environmentExperience with PythonExperience with prompt engineeringPrior Insurance domain knowledgeA passion for clean, reusable, and well-structured codeComfortable with ambiguity in requestsAbout our Engineering Team: Our fully remote engineering team fosters a learning culture that encourages professional development.
