Their mission-driven team is focused on improving educational outcomes through data, technology, and deep school partnerships.Project DetailsAs a Data & Analytics Engineer, you’ll build and optimize data pipelines, ensure data accuracy, and develop dashboards that help schools track student engagement and outcomes. The role requires a strong mix of data engineering, analytics, and visualization skills, with a focus on education data systems.Responsibilities:Develop a deep understanding of the current data infrastructure and integrations between Canvas LMS, Salesforce, Snowflake, and Tableau.Support the ongoing development and maintenance of dashboards and insights for the current school year.Data Source CreationCreate and maintain data relationships across relevant tables, ensuring accurate field mapping.Add new data sources to Tableau Cloud as needed to support reporting requirements.Write and optimize SQL queries in Snowflake to define required data sets.Schedule and manage automated refreshes for data queries to ensure data timeliness.Tableau Dashboard CreationValidate calculated fields and visualizations to ensure accurate representation of desired data points.Optimize dashboard performance and load times, identifying and resolving bottlenecks.Build new worksheets and dashboards aligned with provided specification documentation.Test and validate all metrics and visualizations for accuracy and consistency.Design dashboard layouts in alignment with brand and style preferences.Assessment of Future Enhancements & Canvas Data 2 IntegrationAnalyze the existing Snowflake data architecture, focusing on how Canvas-related data is sourced, modeled, and refreshed.Review Canvas Data 2 (CD2) capabilities, endpoints, and schemas to identify optimal integration strategies.Design a proof of concept or technical framework for ingesting Canvas Data 2 into Snowflake (or an equivalent data warehouse), including data ingestion frequency, error handling, and schema mapping.Support the development of a comprehensive migration roadmap, outlining technical requirements, costs, risks, dependencies, and implementation timelines.Requirements:Advanced proficiency in SQL, including CTEs, window functions, and query optimization.Strong understanding of data modeling concepts (star and snowflake schemas) for managing longitudinal student data.Hands-on experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.Experience with Python or R for data transformations, automation, and API interactions.Knowledge of data warehousing in Snowflake, including schema design and performance optimization.Proficiency in dashboarding tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.Ability to translate education data into actionable metrics (e.g., attendance, assessment performance, engagement) for diverse audiences.Strong understanding of FERPA, data privacy, and PII protection standards.Experience implementing monitoring and alerting systems for data freshness, completeness, and anomaly detection.Proven expertise integrating multiple education data systems (SIS, LMS, assessment platforms) using REST or GraphQL APIs.Experience with secure credential management and API authentication flows.
