Data Engineer

We’re looking for a Data Engineer to join our data platform team. The company is in the early stages of its data journey, having recently built a modern platform centered around Databricks. With the foundation now in place, the team is beginning to scale its capabilities and deliver data-driven solutions that support various areas of the business. The next step is to expand the platform’s reach, improving its efficiency and developing data products for internal teams and, over time, external users as well.As a Data Engineer, you’ll play a key role in developing the technical backbone of the data platform. This position is similar to a software engineering role, focused on extending the platform’s features, ensuring data quality, and optimising how data is processed and delivered across the organisation.The team is international, representing several countries, and places a strong emphasis on collaboration, inclusivity, and psychological safety.What you’ll doDesign and implement new functionality, as well as enhance existing features within the data platform.Build and maintain integrations with internal and external data sources.Diagnose and resolve data pipeline issues.Support product teams with data modelling and architectural design.Write clean, maintainable code following best practices and established coding standards.Use standard tools for source control, issue tracking, test automation, and documentation.Who you are4+ years of experience in data engineering or software engineering with a strong data focus, ideally in a cloud environment (experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP is welcome).Proficient in Python and highly skilled in SQL.Familiar with agile and lean development practices — the team generally follows Kanban.A proactive problem-solver who takes initiative and communicates clearly.Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable collaborating across distributed teams and time zones.
