Job Description

The Data Governance Analyst will embrace the vision of governance and seek to implement that vision within the boundaries of the policies and procedures of the governance program. This individual will train and assist business users with governance tools and processes. This individual will create & find data governance champions throughout the organization then leverage their talents to improve data management at the organization.ResponsibilitiesCORE RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with data governance related initiatives. Analyze business process and data processes to find areas of improvement. Then help to turn those into viable initiatives and projects. Train people on the use of the data catalog and governance tool(s). Ensure that all efforts capture the enterprise & cross-functional vision of governance. Help Identify, recognize & formalize data owners, steward, and custodians within existing responsibilities Assist users with crawling, profiling, lineage maintenance, data quality rules, impact analyses, and linking data assets to terms. Help curate effective and useful business terms and associate them to data assets. Take a special interest in data security, data quality, and metadata management initiatives Act as a representative of the Data Governance Office in meetings and communications. Help develop training materials and resources for participants in data governance activities. Work with data management, machine learning & business intelligence system administrators to provide resources and utilize integrations. Ensure protections and privacy of data assetsQualificationsCORE SKILLS: Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills Understanding of both technical and business aspects of information gathering and analysis Create synergy through service-oriented leadership Be proactive in identifying opportunities. Need to be a self-driven individual that works positively and proactively when tasks are not clear and delineated Identify process & strategy that mutually benefit AFCU’s data governance program, contributing roles, & analyst community Translate vision into reality. Implement vision and goals into daily activity Seek to understand the perspectives of others, and good at educating non-experts on complex problems and solutions Knowledge and Experience with the US consumer financial services market, regulations, products & servicesEducation & Experience Bachelors in a STEM field or equivalent professional experience (typically 4+ years working in STEM field profession) 2+ years of analytic system experience (Database Queries, Dashboarding, Reporting, Predictive Models, etc.) AND/OR 2+ years of experience in a decision-making role that uses analytic systems as a core basis for decision-making. 2+ years of experience with information systems and technology (Networks, Security, Database, Software/Web Development, Technical Support, IT Project Management, etc.) AND/OR 2+ years of experience with technical writing and documentation 2+ years of experience working on projects that were highly team oriented Experienced with the terminology and processes of project management Good understanding of Machine Learning models, concepts, and practices Experienced working within enterprise data warehouse environment platforms such as Snowflake, Exadata, Teradata, etc. Experience with at least one business intelligence platform such as Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, MicroStrategy, etc. Experience with Ticketing, and Project Management tools such as those offered in the Atlassian stack (Jira and Confluence).
