This is an opportunity for an experienced analyst or aspiring technical or data-focused specialist to work closely with our highly regarded natural gas, power and emissions teams, modeling fundamental energy supply and demand and building our data offerings and capabilities.The successful candidate will contribute to the full cycle of our work, from data mining, building and maintaining models to assisting with analysis. You will spend most of your time working with data, putting your technical and analytical skills to good use.You will work closely with our global data team to maximise re-use and ensure the data and model standards in New York work with our global solutions.Combined with your abilities in Python and SQL, you will have professional or academic experience in statistics, modeling or data analysis and a desire to work in the energy industry. You will be expected to quickly take on a range of responsibilities including modeling, data visualisation and the automation of our data processing.DutiesTaking full ownership of projects, from data collection to modeling and deployment.Managing, running and improving existing fundamental models in response to analyst requests.Understanding analyst needs and delivering solutions to answer market questions.Proposing and implementing market models. Managing the relationship with key users of these models.Delivering model results to clients via our portal and API.RequirementsValue driven and can-do attitude. We are a fast-growing company which creates a lot of opportunities for growth but also requires delivery on a wide range of tasks.Python: Ability to write production level code with an excellent understanding of best practices, including regression and timeseries forecast models.Understanding of code life cycle best practices (package management, code reusability, version control, and cloud deployment).Ability to build efficient queries across complex data models, understand and update existing data models in SQL or timeseries databases.Excellent statistical analysis skills.Attention to detail in both handling data and written English.Desirable traitsAbility to own and deliver projects involving stakeholders with a wide range of technical capabilities.Understanding of the importance of data governance and metadata.Ability to design new data models with SQL.Working knowledge of Excel.Use of cloud data platforms (Google Cloud, AWS, Azure).Basic knowledge of Docker, Airflow, Github.Energy sector experience, especially that relevant to electricity and weather is not essential but would be advantageous.An interest in commodities, energy, weather, power and financial markets would be beneficial.Job BenefitsWelcome to our unique workplace where a passion for our industry-leading product sits at the heart of who we are.Life at EA is completely eclectic, fostered through the global nature of the business and a real appreciation of the many cultures of our diverse team.
