Data Scientist

Waggel is a UK-based pet insurance company that aims to make pet ownership easier and more affordable through technology.We’re looking for a curious, hands-on Data Scientist to help us explore and make sense of the growing wealth of data at Waggel. You’ll work alongside our Machine Learning Engineer and Data Engineer to support Waggel’s mission to become a truly data-centric company.This role is ideal for someone who loves to explore data, and come up with creative ways to test ideas and take solutions all the way to production. You will play a key part in pulling out the insights from our data, discover opportunities in that data, and build early-stage predictive models that can evolve into production-ready implementations.You :3+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related fieldA strong understanding of statistics and machine learningProficient in Python and SQLSome exposure to model prototyping (e.g. linear models, classification problems, clustering, etc.)Familiarity with ML/AI python packages such as pyTorch and sklearnFamiliarity with basic version control (we use Github)Experience with data visualisation tools (we use Tableau)Bonus points for any experience with Databricks, Docker, or AWS, AI APIsWhat the job involves :Performing exploratory data analysis on new and existing datasets to uncover trends, spot anomalies, and develop hypothesesCollaborating with the broader data team to identify  and test high-impact use cases for AI and predictive modellingPrototyping models or analyses to test hypotheses and validate ideasSupporting the ML Engineer in building production-grade models and pipelines by helping with feature generation, data cleaning, and model evaluationWorking closely with other teams to understand business problems and frame them as data science questionsHelping define and maintain a process for model testing, benchmarking, and iterationCreating clear, insightful visualisations and sharing resultsKeeping an eye on developments in the AI and data science spaceWhat We Offer :Remote workingCompetitive salaryFlexible hours
