Our team creates innovative dashboards and data visualizations while pioneering enterprise-wide design standards that shape how thousands of users experience and interact with data—turning raw information into intuitive, beautiful interfaces that drive breakthrough solutions.This position is for a Data Visualization Designer within the Lockheed Martin (LM) Data and AI Enablement (D&Ae) organization’s Project Management Office and Data Design team. The work location for this position is virtual within the continental United States.Position Details Fully remote position; must be in the United States Full-time (4 days a week M-Th, 40 hours per week) / Flex Hours No security clearance requiredWhat We Are Looking ForWe are seeking a creative Data Visualization & UX Designer to transform complex data into intuitive, user-centric analytics products. You’ll partner with data analysts, scientists, and business stakeholders to discover user needs, prototype solutions, and deliver polished dashboards and visual stories that drive data-driven decisions.Beyond individual project work, you’ll play a key role in shaping our organization’s approach to Data Design. You’ll develop enterprise-wide standards, create reusable templates and processes, and lead our community of practice to elevate data visualization capabilities across the entire organization.Similar Roles & BackgroundIf you’ve worked as a Data Designer, Data Visualization Developer, UX Engineer, Front-End Designer, Design Technologist, or in similar hybrid roles that blend design and development, this position may be a perfect fit. We’re looking for professionals who’ve bridged the gap between creative design and technical implementation, regardless of their specific job title.Required Qualifications US Citizenship required Professional experience in data-visualization design, UX/UI design, or information design Experience with facilitating user research and user testing sessions. Experience with storytelling and visualizations within the realm of data analytics. Experience building dashboards, infographics, or interactive reports. Strong grasp of user-centered design principles and a portfolio showcasing UX case studies, wireframes, or dashboards. Proficiency in Tableau (or a comparable visualization platform) and familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, InVision, Miro. Ability to juggle multiple ongoing priorities and projects. Must have strong problem-solving skills, business acumen, attention to detail, and demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of WordPress development and general UI development Bachelor’s Degree in: Graphic/Interaction Design, Information Design, UX, Data Visualization, or a related field.Desired Skills Knowledge of Design thinking methodologies Knowledge of data visualization theories and best practices Experience working with cross-functional, diverse, virtual teams Advanced JavaScript and CSS capabilities Experience building and maintaining design systems and component libraries Agile development processes and CI/CD pipelines Experience with diverse, remote teams Knowledge of design tokens and scalable design principlesWhat Makes This Role UniqueThis position combines creative design thinking with complex data problem-solving across an exceptionally diverse range of projects.
