This role collaborates closely with Infrastructure and Product teams to ensure data reliability, seamless integration, and optimized performance in a fast-paced enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SQL Server architecture, data integration strategies, and performance tuning within large-scale systems. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies, contribute to strategic initiatives, and be part of a collaborative team that values innovation, continuous improvement, and professional growth.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign database infrastructure on premises and cloud following industry best practices with emphasis on automation and repeatable deployment processEnsure the availability, scalability and performance of the database systemsWork across teams to help provision and configure databases technologies in accordance with established enterprise standards. Implement best practices for database management across all platformsLead technical aspects of projects and their implementation, and mentor less experienced staff in their technical development in SQL performance and scalabilityStrong scripting and automation skills (T-SQL, PowerShell, Python)Evaluate and recommend new tools, platforms and methodologies to improve internal operations and system resilience.Act as the escalation tier to solve issues from team, internal developers/partner teamsStay current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed educationAdhere to and promote existing ITIL processes and standard proceduresThis position will require participation in a rotating on-call schedule for 24x7 global support. QualificationsBachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or equivalent experience is required5+ years of experience in Database Administration in an enterprise environmentExperience maintaining and configuring Microsoft SQL Server 2016 and higherExperience with ETL tools Microsoft SSIS, Azure Data Factory and KafkaExperience with all database performance metrics & tuning practicesAbility to troubleshoot complex SQL issues in partnership with development teamsStrong problem solving and analytical skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience working with cloud database technologies – including Azure Cosmos DB, Azure SQL Databases, Azure Data Factory, or equivalentExperience with high-availability solutions such as Always On and Log ShippingExperience with Azure DevOps, GitHub for code deploymentFamiliarity working with the SQL Monitoring tools such as Idera and Sentry OneWorking ConditionsWorking conditions are typical for a distribution and office setting. The job involves lifting materials and products weighing up to 40 pounds. Operating equipment requires specialized training and testing in accordance with Polaris’ standards. Must be able to manage multiple demands at once.The starting pay range for Minnesota is $88,000 to $119,000 per year. Individual salaries and positioning within the range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. While individual pay could fall anywhere in the range based on these factors, it is not common to start at the high end or top of the range.
