With the approval of the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia, Manipal International University was renamed as MILA University in 2023. To establish a leading education school in Asia, MILA University is inviting applications for Dean / Head of Program / Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Education.The candidates must be able to teach courses defined by Programme Standards: Master of Education (Educational Leadership and Management), as well as support other programmes as they are developed.We hope to find enthusiastic and motivated individuals with a strong record of professional practice, academic research, and/or enterprise activities in business management who can contribute to the growth of the School of Education, MILA University.1) DeanKey ResponsibilitiesThe Dean is the academic and administrative head of the school. The responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:Provide academic leadership for the development and implementation of the School’s strategic and operational plansImplement policies and initiatives to enhance academic excellence and student successLead in the recruitment and retainment of the members of the SchoolPromote education and research excellence to enhance the reputation of the SchoolOversee new programme development and continual quality improvement of existing programmes to ensure alignment with accreditation standards and industry trends.Manage workload distribution among the faculty membersEncourage and ensure the faculty members are actively involved in research (including publications, presentations, obtaining external grants etc.)Identify slow learners early in the semester and provide them with additional academic supportAddress academic and non-academic issues affecting both staff and studentsEnsure student monitoring, such as attendance, academic performance, etc., is implemented, and monitor, appropriate remedial measureEnsure that all the documents are completed for the accreditation processesDevelop collaborations with industries for industrial training and/or placement of studentsConduct academic and administrative meetings relevant to the school and maintain the records (minutes) and implement the decisionsDevelop team spirit among the staff of the SchoolPrepare the annual budget and optimise the utilisation of resourcesWork closely with the other Deans, and other University leaders, to guide the university as it grows and developsAny other responsibility entrusted by the University management from time to time.SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIESQualification and Experience: A doctorate degree in the related field of education, preferably in Education Leadership and ManagementA minimum of five years of experience in leadership role(s) in higher education institutionsDemonstrate accomplishments in education leadership and innovationSupervised at least one doctorate degree by research student to completionAn outstanding, demonstratable, reputation for high quality researchIt is an advantage if the candidate holds a master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages2) Head of ProgramKey ResponsibilitiesProgramme Management: Oversee the Master of Education (Educational Leadership and Management) programme across both conventional and Open and Distance Learning (ODL) modes.Teaching & Learning: Design and deliver high-quality teaching and learning activities that align with the strategic direction of the University.Student Support: Provide timely academic support and constructive feedback to enhance student learning, experience, and achievement.Pastoral Care: Offer appropriate pastoral guidance to students to support their overall well-being and academic journey.Curriculum Development: Contribute to the planning, design, and development of courses and programmes in accordance with the University’s strategic goals and regulatory compliance.External Engagement: Participate in professional and external engagements that promote and expand the University’s enterprise activities.Research & Innovation: Plan, organise, and conduct research activities that support the University’s strategic priorities.Funding Acquisition: Secure relevant funding to support and implement a personal research agenda.Collaborative Work: Work proactively with colleagues to achieve the strategic outcomes of the University.Expert Advice: Provide expert guidance and advice to colleagues in resolving complex academic or operational issues (applicable to Senior Lecturer level and above).Additional Duties: Undertake any other responsibilities as assigned by the University.Selection Criteria:An applicant must have:A doctoral qualification or equivalent in the related field of education, Education Leadership and ManagementAt least two years of relevant teaching and research experienceA demonstratable a well-established research portfolio in the field of educationSupervised at least one master’s degree by research student to completionPrior leadership experience, such as Head of Department, Programme Coordinator or similarIt would be advantageous if the candidate has a master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages3)
