THE ROLE / TE MAHIKo Taku Reo is seeking an experienced and visionary Deputy Head of Outreach School to join our leadership team. This key role supports the Head of Regional Outreach Services to deliver equitable, high-quality teaching, learning, language, and wellbeing support for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing learners across Aotearoa.You will lead the operational coordination of Outreach Services across four regions - overseeing systems, logistics, data and team development. As the link between regional teams and national leadership, you’ll drive consistency, equity and improvement through effective planning and collaboration.A hands-on leadership role (equivalent to a mainstream school DP), you’ll promote excellence, strengthen whānau and community engagement and ensure services reflect best practice and evidence. This is a national role and there is flexibility where it is based.You WillCoordinate and implement national systems and processes across regional Outreach teams.Oversee service delivery logistics, timetables, staffing allocations and resource deployment.Analyse and report on service data to inform planning and strategic decisions.Lead and mentor regional leaders, fostering collaboration and positive team culture.Ensure compliance with internal, legislative and regulatory requirements.Support projects and initiatives that strengthen whānau, iwi and Deaf community engagement.REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION / NGĀ HERENGA MŌ TE MAHIYou are an experienced educational leader with a strong background in operations, data-informed decision making, and team development. You are passionate about equitable access to learning and thrive in a collaborative, dynamic environment.You Will BringA relevant teaching or education qualification (Level 7+).At least 10 years’ teaching experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role.Proven ability to lead large, diverse teams in educational settings.Strong organisational and analytical skills, with confidence using data for decision making.Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.A full, clean NZ driver’s licence.Knowledge of Deaf education (highly desirable).Conversational NZSL or a willingness to learn.WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU / HEI AHA HE PAI TĒNEI MAHI MĀU?At Ko Taku Reo, we are committed to creating inclusive learning environments where Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing learners thrive.
