Are you a strategic and inspiring leader with a passion for Deaf Education and collaborative practice?Ko Taku Reo Deaf Education New Zealand is seeking a visionary leader to take up this pivotal new role – Deputy Head of Outreach School - Practice & Partnerships. This position leads national initiatives that strengthen the quality, consistency, and impact of teaching practice across our Outreach School, supporting over 3,000 learners and 180 specialist teachers of the Deaf nationwide.THE ROLE / TE MAHIAs Deputy Head of Practice & Partnerships, you will play a central role in shaping and driving best practice in Deaf Education. You’ll lead the development of frameworks and systems that enhance Resource Teachers of the Deaf (RTDs) professional capability, ensure alignment with national curriculum and inclusive education principles, and build sustainable, high-quality service delivery. This is a national role and there is flexibility where it is based.You WillChampion evidence-based, reflective practice across all Outreach teams.Lead the design of national approaches and resources that promote consistency, clarity, and excellence in RTD practice.Build strong and enduring partnerships with schools, agencies, and professional networks to support equitable outcomes for Deaf and hard-of-hearing ākonga.Work collaboratively with other national leaders to embed Te Tiriti o Waitangi, inclusion and wellbeing at the heart of all we do.Support strategic alignment across Outreach priorities, professional learning and system improvement. This is an influential leadership role focused on the quality of teaching practice and the relationships that underpin success for our ākonga, whānau and partner schools.REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION / NGĀ HERENGA MŌ TE MAHIWe’re looking for an educational leader who can influence at both the strategic and practical level – someone who builds trust, champions collaboration and inspires others through knowledge and integrity.You’ll HaveA tertiary qualification in Teaching or Education (Level 7+) and current NZ Teacher RegistrationAt least 10 years’ teaching experience, including leadership in Deaf Education or specialist settingsDeep understanding of Deaf Education pedagogy and inclusive teaching practiceProven experience in professional learning design and delivery across national or regional contextsStrong skills in stakeholder engagement, partnership building, and system changeA commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, and bilingual/bimodal education (NZSL & English)A full, clean NZ driver’s licence and at least conversational NZSLWHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU / HEI AHA HE PAI TĒNEI MAHI MĀU?Ko Taku Reo is the national school and service for Deaf Education in Aotearoa.
