Investment IndustryTitle: Desktop EngineerDuration: Contract until March 31, 2026 - possible extensionLocation: Downtown Toronto, ONWork Model: Hybrid- 3-4 days/week, onsite.They want someone who is:Primarily a Desktop Engineer — not a Cloud Engineer or Infra/Network person.Focus on Windows endpoints, device configuration, Intune/SCCM, imaging, policy setup, device management, and automation.Less interest in heavy Azure/AWS or networking/cloud infrastructure experience.Engineering-Level, Not Just SupportThey don’t want a basic desktop support tech.They want someone who can build, configure, and deploy — not just troubleshoot.Think: creating images, writing task sequences, configuring Intune/Autopilot policies, managing GPOs, etc.High-Level ObjectivesSupport a client’s upcoming office relocation by ensuring device and technology readiness.Lead efforts to automate meeting room, monitor, and device configurations for deployment efficiency.Deliver a seamless migration of shared PCs and end-user systems to the new environment.Document and standardize repeatable deployment, configuration, and validation processes.Collaborate with Tech Bar and IT Operations to ensure smooth knowledge transfer and operational readiness.Key ResponsibilitiesMeeting Room ReadinessDecommission legacy meeting accounts and migrate to new conferencing solutions.Configure and manage Windows Shared PC Mode / Kiosk Mode for shared meeting room devices.Participate in solution design, implementation, testing, validation, and documentation.Transition final ownership and documentation to the Tech Bar support team.Device ReadinessManage and update monitor firmware; develop remote automation and configuration scripts.Ensure day-one readiness for laptops and monitors, including Wi-Fi and Global Protect validation.Utilize SCCM (Configuration Manager), Intune, and PowerShell for software deployment and endpoint management.Design and document monitor staging processes — unboxing, setup, connection validation, and handoff.Coordination & CollaborationWork cross-functionally with multiple IT teams for validation, rollout, and relocation readiness.Maintain clear documentation of technical solutions, project status, and process handoffs.Proactively communicate progress, risks, and dependencies to project stakeholders.Must-Have Qualifications5-7 years of experience in desktop engineering and end-user computing roles.Strong hands-on expertise with:Intune (device management, compliance policies, configuration profiles)SCCM / MECM (software deployment, imaging, task sequences)PowerShell scripting (automation, reporting, remote configuration)Autopilot configuration and Windows device provisioningGroup Policy (GPO) management and troubleshootingExperience implementing and supporting Windows Shared PC Mode / Kiosk Mode.Demonstrated ability to document technical configurations and create repeatable processes.Comfortable working on office relocation or endpoint refresh projects, collaborating with multiple technical teams.Nice-to-HavesExperience with Nexthink for endpoint analytics and visibility.Familiarity with Teams administration or AV/meeting room technologies.Knowledge of printer readiness validation and peripheral staging.Previous experience in banking, pension fund, or other regulated industries.Strong communication and coordination skills — ability to operate in a fast-paced, changing project environment.
