POSITION OVERVIEWWe are looking for a DevOps Engineer who will own and lead all aspects of our infrastructure, networking, security, monitoring, and deployment pipelines. This is a high-impact role where you will have full technical authority over our cloud environment and production systems, ensuring they are reliable, scalable, and secure.WHERE: Canada and USA.Your Impact ZoneArchitect, deploy, and manage scalable, highly available systems primarily on AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, ECS, EKS, Lambda, etc.)Own IaC (Infrastructure as Code) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or PulumiManage VPC configurations, routing, load balancing, and secure connectivity between environmentsOversee cost optimization for cloud resourcesDesign and maintain secure networking architectures, including VPNs, peering connections, and private links to partners/banksManage DNS, firewalls, WAF, and CDN configurationsImplement and maintain security hardening, encryption (at rest & in transit), and access controls in compliance with fintech security regulationsConduct regular security audits and penetration test coordinationBuild and maintain CI/CD pipelines for backend services, APIs, and mobile applications (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or equivalentAutomate testing, deployment, rollback, and scaling processesImplement blue/green and canary deployment strategiesImplement end-to-end observability (metrics, logs, tracing) using tools like Grafana, ELK/EFK, Datadog, or New RelicMaintain real-time alerting and escalation systems for uptime and performance monitoringLead incident response, root cause analysis, and post-mortem reportingBuild dashboards for system health, transaction processing latency, and error ratesDesign and maintain disaster recovery (DR) and high availability (HA) strategiesManage automated backups, replication, and tested restoration processesEnsure systems meet industry compliance requirements (ISO 27001, GDPR, etc.)Work closely with frontend, backend, mobile, and QA teams to ensure smooth deploymentsBe the go-to owner for infrastructure-related decisions and escalationsYour Toolkit for the Role4+ years of DevOps/SRE experience, preferably in fintech or other high-availability systemsExpert-level knowledge of AWS (or GCP/Digital Ocean with strong AWS cross-over experience)Strong skills in Linux system administrationExpertise with Terraform or equivalent IaC toolsStrong experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestrationProficient in CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, CircleCI, etc.)Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, routing, load balancing)Deep understanding of monitoring/alerting tools and logging stacksProven track record in designing secure, compliant systems for financial dataStrong scripting/programming skills in Bash, Python, or GoBilingual (French & English) is a plus with a major focus on EnglishExperience with PCI DSS and other fintech compliance frameworksKnowledge of message queues and streaming platforms (Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS/SNS)Experience with multi-region, active-active cloud architecturesExposure to cross-border payment systems or financial transaction processing________________________________________Who We AreWe are a Fintech company on a mission to accelerate the digitization of the financial industry in Africa and empower the unbanked.
