DEVOPS Engineer — (PTA) Needed for 6 Weeks

Location: Pretoria (Hybrid – some office days required) Contract Type: Full-time, Fixed-term (6 weeks, with possibility of extension) Duration: Initial 6-week engagement, full-time (8 hours per day) Start Date: Late November 2025 (subject to contract sign-off)Role OverviewThe DevOps Engineer will play a key role in implementing and automating cloud infrastructure components in Microsoft Azure. The engagement focuses on provisioning, configuring, and optimizing Azure and Databricks environments, ensuring a secure, scalable, and well-documented deployment framework aligned with project requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesProvision and configure Azure core resources (e.g., storage, networking, compute, and identity services).Deploy and configure Azure Databricks workspaces, clusters, and libraries.Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) scripts using Terraform and/or Bicep.Implement and support CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployments.Ensure appropriate security, access control, and compliance across environments.Collaborate closely with development and data engineering teams to ensure environment readiness.Document deployment procedures, configurations, and repository structure.Required Skills and ExperienceMinimum of 2 years’ experience as a DevOps or Cloud Engineer.Proven hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services and resource provisioning.Practical experience deploying and managing Azure Databricks.Strong scripting and automation skills using Terraform or Bicep.Working knowledge of CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).Familiarity with Git, PowerShell, or Python for automation.Understanding of cloud security and governance best practices.Strong communication and documentation skills.Desirable (Nice to Have)Microsoft certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-400, DP-203).Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).Exposure to data analytics or engineering environments.Engagement ModelHybrid work arrangement: Primarily remote with required office attendance in Pretoria on scheduled days.Working hours: 8 hours per day (full-time).Duration: 6 weeks, with potential for extension based on project needs.
