Job Description

High School Business ManagerFull-TimeCity & State: Lancaster, PALancaster Catholic High School seeks a Business Manager to oversee the financial management of the school enterprise through responsible stewardship, providing essential support to the President and other administrators for the greatest operational vitality. The Business Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial, operational, and human resources aspects of the school in a manner consistent with the policies, procedures, and guidelines set forth by the Diocese of Harrisburg and Board of Directors, ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the school. The Business Manager reports to the President.

Financial Management DutiesDevelop, manage, and monitor the school's budget in collaboration with the President, Principal, and Finance Committee. Oversee financial record keeping, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, ensuring compliance with diocesan guidelines and all applicable regulations. Prepare financial statements and reports for the administration, Board, and Finance Committee. Reconcile internal data with diocesan data. Manage tuition collection, payments, and financial aid administration. Develop and implement strategies to ensure financial sustainability and long-term planning. Oversee purchasing, procurement, and contract management, ensuring competitive pricing and compliance with policies.

Coordinate and support school fundraising efforts in collaboration with the Advancement office. Assist with internal audits conducted by the Diocese and ensure compliance with all financial regulations. Ensure proper financial documentation for fundraising activities, grants, and endowments. Operational Management DutiesCollaborate with the Director of Facilities for the maintenance and management of school facilities. Coordinate capital addition and improvement projects. Implement and monitor risk management policies and procedures, including health and safety compliance. Human Resource DutiesManage personnel records, contracts, and employment agreements for staff. Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with employment laws and diocesan policies.

Provide support for recruitment, hiring, and training processes for non-teaching staff. Strategic & Administrative DutiesCollaborate with the President, leadership team, and department administrators to provide strategic leadership and planning, particularly in financial matters. Serve as a resource and advisor to the President, Principal, and other administrators on financial, operational, and administrative issues. Ensure proper processes for administrative and donor documentation. Represent the school in financial matters and attend meetings of the Finance Committee, as well as Board or other relevant committees as needed. Liaise with the Diocese of Harrisburg's administrative services for human resources.

Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with all reporting requirements. Lead, supervise, and annually evaluate the performance of the various staff within the business office. Foster a positive and collaborative working environment within the school community. Analytical and interpretative skills related to budget preparation and review. Superior oral and written communication skills. Personnel management & organizational skills. Skill and expertise in using donor databases/customer relationship management software. Skill and expertise in Google Drive and the Microsoft suite.

Commitment to ongoing professional education. Self-starter, capable of independent problem-solving and decision-making within the scope of authority provided. Trustworthiness, reliability, willingness to maintain confidentiality, and the ability to complete delegated assignments in a timely manner. Ability to establish cooperative, tactful, effective, and harmonious working relationships with a diverse group of individuals, ranging from senior management, administration, board members, corporate leaders, faculty, staff, alumni, volunteers, and the general public. Educational/Professional ExperienceMinimum of a B. S. in accounting, finance, or business administration. Five or more years of experience in financial and operational management. Strong managerial skills and related work experience.

Bilingual in Spanish is desirable. Physical Demands: The job will require extensive computer work in a school or office setting. Job duties will require the employee to manage evening/weekend meetings and attend school events and functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk, reach, sit, hear, handle, and perform repetitive hand and wrist motions. Lifts and moves items up to 20 pounds.
