Find us wherever there's a challenge to be tackled and an impact to be made.Our Commodity and Energy Trading team is looking for an experienced Director to join our Nordics practice and lead the establishment of our new office in Norway.We have recently established a new Nordics commodity and energy trading practice, headquartered in Copenhagen, and are looking to expand Baringa’s presence across Scandinavia.Baringa’s commodities and energy trading team operates across all major commodity and energy companies in Europe, the US and Singapore. We work with clients across many different commodity types and across the value chain. From metals traders and miners, through oil majors, freight and shipping specialists to asset backed energy traders.We collaborate with our clients on some of their most strategic programmes as they seek to adapt to the changing environment, monetise new value pools and remain competitive. We help them to translate strategy into action, to enter new markets, build new capabilities, and to revolutionise their trading businesses and IT landscapes. We’re looking for people to join our growing team who have a passion for commodity and energy trading and for collaborating with clients face to face to help solve their key challenges. You'll be involved in strategically significant client transformation projects, primarily in the Scandinavia and Europe, with opportunities to work on global initiatives.What you will be doingYou will play a critical role in building our new Nordics practice and will lead the establishment of our office in Norway, partnering with senior leadership to develop client relationships and drive business development initiatives. You will help shape the future of our team through talent acquisition, mentoring, and the professional development of junior colleagues.As a key member of our leadership team, you will be expected to: Lead client relationship development and identify new business engagement opportunities.Oversee and deliver client projects and programs in your area of expertise, working collaboratively with client teams.Contribute to Baringa’s strategic growth in Norway and across Europe.Support team growth and development by recruiting top talent, mentoring project teams, and championing career development opportunities.From designing target operating models to implementing integrated trading systems. Here are some examples of projects we typically get involved in: Trading systems transformations: Implementations, upgrades and system selections for market leading trading organisations including new and innovative products.  Business restructuring: Designing and implementing operating models for complex global organisations that cover the full trading and commodity lifecycle.  Digital Transformation: Development and delivery of our digital trading consulting capabilities and offerings including data driven trading. Risk Advisory: helping organisations to strengthen their risk management frameworks; analyse and design their risk mitigation strategies; improve governance and reporting; and the implementation of best practice solutions for risk management. Your Skills And ExperienceWe are looking for an experienced Director in Norway, with strong client delivery and relationship-building skills, coupled with deep advisory expertise in one or more of the following areas:  Power and Short-Term Power Trading: expertise in different power trading markets (e.g., day-ahead, real-time, bilateral, and over-the-counter markets) and an understanding of the impact that the rise in renewables, intermittency and flexibility is having on the markets. Oil and Bulk Commodities Trading: expertise in bulk commodities trading markets, with a strong understanding of at least one of the following markets: oil, coal, gas, LNG, metals or agricultural products. Candidates should have a clear understanding of trading processes, market dynamics, and industry trends. LNG, Gas & Clean Fuels Trading: Familiarity with different types of LNG contracts, such as long-term contracts, spot contracts, and short-term agreements. Understanding of pricing mechanisms and benchmarks, including oil-linked pricing, gas-on-gas pricing, and hybrid models. Freight and Shipping Trading: expertise in different areas of freight and shipping, including marine freight markets, the supply-demand balance for shipping capacity, key trade routes, the impact of economic cycles on freight rates and familiarity with different types of shipping contracts.
