Based in the Cayman Islands, the CFO for Scotia Reinsurance (Cayman) Limited and Scotia Insurance (Cayman) Limited (together “Scotia Reinsurance” or “the Companies”) is a key member of the regional executive leadership team, responsible for driving financial strategy, governance, and performance across the Global Insurance portfolio. This role oversees all financial functions including strategic planning, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, capital management, and risk oversight. The CFO will play a critical role in shaping the region’s growth strategy, ensuring financial sustainability, and maintaining regulatory confidence.The successful candidate will:Develop and execute the Scotia Reinsurance financial strategy aligned with Global Insurance objectives.Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and business growth.Actively manage the reliable and timely reporting of financial information to management, regulators and other stakeholders for Scotia Reinsurance operations.Oversee compliance with the Companies’ risk appetite metrics/KPIs, with appropriate governance and control, including entity capitalization, Earnings at Risk and RoE optimization.Partner with each of Global Insurance’s businesses to understand their strategy, measure profitability, and create insights through quantitative analysis. Facilitate better decision making through resource optimization and consistency across all reporting.Oversee all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.Ensure timely and accurate reporting in compliance with IFRS and local regulatory standards.Manage financial performance metrics, profitability analysis, and cost optimization initiatives.Ensure full compliance with local and international financial regulations.Serve as the primary liaison with financial regulators, auditors, and tax authorities across jurisdictions.Lead enterprise risk management (ERM) initiatives and internal control frameworks.Ensure adherence to local and international financial regulations (e.g., FATCA, CRS, AML/CFT).Liaise with regulators, auditors, and legal counsel to manage audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes impacting the business.Manage liquidity, funding strategies, and capital adequacy across the Reinsurance entities.Optimize balance sheet structure and oversee treasury operations, including FX and interest rate risk.Drive digital finance transformation initiatives, including automation, analytics, and system upgrades.Required skills and qualifications for this role include:Recognized accounting qualification (e.g. CPA, ACCA) required; CFA designation desirable.Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics (MBA strongly preferred).Minimum 12–15 years of progressive financial leadership experience in insurance or banking.Proven track record in multi-jurisdictional financial operations, preferably within the Caribbean.Experience managing regulatory relationships and leading through audits and inspections.Excellent written & oral communication skills are required (English required, Spanish is desirable).Deep understanding of reinsurance business and financial instruments.Strong command of local financial regulations and reporting requirements.Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.Proficiency in financial systems and data visualization tools.Requires excellent technical skills in accounting and finance, including a sound understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), in particular IFRS 17.Scotia Reinsurance (Cayman) Limited provides a competitive compensation package, dependent on experience.
