This is a rare opportunity to shape how artificial intelligence is integrated across editorial, operational, and commercial functions for a large, influential institution with a century-long legacy of storytelling and public impact.The RoleThe Director of AI Initiatives will help define, pilot, and scale responsible AI applications across multiple business units. You’ll collaborate with executives, editors, technologists, and data teams to identify high-impact use cases, from workflow optimization and content generation to audience engagement, data analytics, and innovation partnerships.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute a strategic roadmap for AI adoption across departmentsIdentify and implement practical, ethical AI solutions in content and operationsPartner with leadership to set governance standards and best practicesEvaluate and manage relationships with AI vendors, tools, and platformsTranslate technical capabilities into business value and creative opportunitiesEducate internal teams on emerging technologies and responsible useQualificationsProven experience leading AI initiatives within enterprise, media, or technology environmentsStrong understanding of large language models (LLMs), generative AI, and applied machine learningFamiliarity with newsroom workflows, data ethics, and content integrity preferredExceptional communication and leadership skills, able to bridge technical and creative teamsBased in Los Angeles or able to meet with leadership on-site as neededWhy Join This engagement combines strategic influence with tangible implementation.
