Director of Automotive Aftersales SME (Automotive), TokyoOur client, a prominent, privately-held global software provider specializing in a leading AI and Machine Learning-powered data platform engineered specifically for smart mobility and connected vehicle fleets, is looking for a seasoned automotive industry expert to serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in after-sales vehicle quality and connected vehicle warranty analytics. This pivotal, full-time role, based in Tokyo, Japan, will establish thought leadership, drive the go-to-market strategy, and act as a trusted advisor for both executive customers and internal stakeholders. The ideal professional brings a blend of deep OEM quality experience, expertise in the supply chain, and hands-on knowledge of emerging connected vehicle and software-defined architectures.Responsibilities:Strategic Industry & Product ExpertiseServe as the internal go-to expert for the latest automotive trends, including the warranty claim lifecycle, recall analysis, and product feedback.Support product teams by providing market insights and technical validation for new quality-related use cases and early detection capabilities.Go-to-Market and Customer EngagementCollaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Product teams to shape messaging, positioning, and engagement strategies for lighthouse accounts.Engage directly with OEM executives and after-sales experts to communicate value, evangelize the solution, and respond to RFPs.Contribute to the design and delivery of customer workshops, proofs-of-value, and solution roadmaps.Thought Leadership & EvangelismRepresent the company as an industry expert at global events, conferences, and executive workshops.Develop and deliver compelling presentations, blogs, and whitepapers to position the company as a trusted partner for automotive quality and innovation.Requirements: Must-Have Criteria (Mandatory)Experience: 6+ years of experience in an after-sales role within an OEM or an automotive BU at a tech/consulting vendor focused on after-sales quality, customer satisfaction, or warranty/recalls.Domain Knowledge: In-depth understanding of after-sales vehicle quality strategies, warranty analytics, root cause analysis, OTA campaigns, and supplier quality management.Language Fluency: Japanese native proficiency combined with exceptional communication and presentation skills in English (written, verbal, and PowerPoint).Executive Presence: Proven experience speaking at industry events or representing companies in executive-level conversations.Professional Attributes: Must possess a strong sense of Ownership, be highly self-motivated, and demonstrate the ability to build and maintain trust.Highly Preferred ExpertiseTechnical Grasp: Strong grasp of evolving industry trends, including connected vehicles, SDVs, and deep hands-on experience with existing EV and future zonal architectures.Networking: A strong network across the automotive ecosystem.Data Background: Proven experience working with or alongside data analytics or AI-driven platforms is highly advantageous.The company offers the opportunity to join a high-impact, strategic team driving significant growth in the Japanese market.
